*Saturday Morning*

Dana decided to start her morning off by going to the one place in her house she was most comfortable at, the kitchen.

Normally her mother, Deborah, would be the one up at the crack of dawn cooking breakfast for them. Lately, since both of her parents have been working overtime, Dana took the initiative to cook for them this time.

This was going to be easy fun, considering the kitchen was actually her area of expertise.

After setting her radio high up on the counter, and turning it to her favorite hip-hop station, Dana went to work.

She had the kitchen and living room filled with the delicious smells of bacon, eggs, sausage, and pancakes.

The strong aroma had woken Deborah out of her sleep and led her straight to the kitchen.

"What do we have here? My daughter actually preparing breakfast this morning?"

Dana looked up from the skillet she was flipping a pancake in and flashed her mother a smile showcasing her deep dimples.

"Of course mother, why wouldn't I?" Dana replied, with just as much sarcasm.

"Because you never do." Deborah walked to the fridge and pulled out the big jug of OJ.

"Well, I know how hard you and Dad have been working lately. So I thought I would help out for a change, I mean it's the least I can do, considering you do the same for me every day."

Deborah squeezed Dana's face and kissed her cheek, "That was real sweet of you baby, thank you."

Deborah's gratitude had Dana grinning from ear to ear, she knew she'd done good, "you're welcome mommy."

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Dana honey, can you get that for me?"

"Sure," Dana snatched a piece of bacon from off of the plate that Deborah made for her and ran to answer the door.

"Yooo! What up homie?!"

Unsurprisingly, standing by her front door was her best friend Shanteah, Dino, Shazam, and their cousin Dandrick.

"What the hell?" Dana said underneath her breath.

"What's up D? You don't seem too happy to see us." Shanteah said, slightly poking out her bottom lip.

Dana folded her arms and leaned against the door frame, "really? I wonder what gave it away?"

"Man forget all of that, I smell food!" Shazam pushed past Dana and ran inside. Dana wasn't able to stop him, before he ended up in the kitchen.

"Dana, your mom cooked?" Shanteah asked.

"No I did, but I di-"

"Ooo, I want me a plate, come on Dandrick."

Dandrick stopped in the middle of the doorway to give Dana a quick hug, "hey Dana."

She liked that he actually spoke to her first, instead of just bum rushing his way through, like the other two.

"Hi Dandrick," Dana returned the hug and gave Dandrick a half smile.

"Is it cool if I grab me a plate too?" Dandrick asked, while pointing at the kitchen. He couldn't lie, the smell alone had his stomach growling.

"Yeah, I'm sure my mother won't mind."

"Cool, thanks D."

Dana looked over at Dino and smirked, "let me guess, you want to come inside too?"

"Not unless you trying to come out here with me."
