Harris County Divorce Court
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Restless, Dana tapped her pen against the desk and her foot the floor, to an unfamiliar beat.
Every few seconds, she would glance up at the clock on the wall and back down at the judge before her.
Dino was sitting just to the right of her, at the plaintiff table, he and his lawyer both with uneasy looks on their faces.
Even with her sister there to support her, Dana had never been more nervous in her entire life.
After six long months, the day had finally come for she and Dino to finalize their divorce. After today, she would no longer be Mrs. Conner.
She couldn't help, but to think about all of the hoes, who'd been praying for this day ever since she and Dino first started dating, waiting by brimming from excitement.
Men and relationships were the last things on her mind, but she was sure Dino had a girl or two just waiting on him.
Not like she cared, at least not anymore.
What she didn't know was, Dino was very close to not showing up to court at all. The only reason he went, was because both Shazam and his lawyer had to practically beg him.
Even after all this time spent apart, he still did not want to divorce Dana. And it pained his heart just to see how adamant she was on getting it done.
She did not want to be married to him anymore, and he was going to have to learn to accept that.
As the judge went on, it all sounded like a bunch of gibberish and bullshit to Dino. He looked to the left of him at Dana, and the harsh reality slowly began sinking in.
"I will grant joint custody of the children to both parents...." Dino managed to tune Judge Brown out as he suddenly began to think of his kids.
At least Dana was being fair, she could've may as well been a bitch, and ask for full custody, but she never had it in her to do so.
Though she and Dino were no longer together, she was not the type of person to try and come between him and their children.
He might not have been the best husband, but he was a damned good father, and Dana would never take that away from him.
Dino sighed deeply, while clasping and unclasping his fingers. He fiddled with the button on his suit jacket and cleared his throat.
He turned to Dana once again, she appeared to be unbothered.
From the moment she first entered the court room, her mood had never changed. If she was bothered by anything or even worried, she surely did not show it.
"At Mrs. Conner's request, Mr. Conner will not be granted to pay child support for their two children."
Dana was being easy on Dino, and he didn't even realize it. She got exactly what she wanted, to leave this marriage with exactly what she came in with.
A few months ago, it was absolutely nothing, but today she was swimming in money. Dino didn't exactly know Dana's occupation, but he figured she had to be making money some kind of way, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to afford to take him to court.
She was a completely different person from the last time he'd seen her. She looked like money, and not her sister's money either.
Dana was not the type of woman to accept handouts and he knew this about her too, so whatever it is that she had, he knew she got it honest and on her own.
