There was a sudden odor coming from both Dino's bed and his body, Dana had to shield both of her hands over her nose and mouth, just to block the terrible smell.
"Goddamn Dino! You smell like straight ass crack!" She shouted through her hands.
"What? It don't ev-" Dino rose his arm, just to get a whiff of his armpit, "it don't even smell that bad, you just being extra."
"No, you just smell extra bad! Can you like go take a quick shower or something, before you go around my kids please?" Dana took a few extra steps away from Dino, her hands never leaving her nose.
Dino sucked his teeth, and stormed into his bathroom, "aight whatever, with your extra ass."

"So, how come you haven't said anything?"
From the slight pitter patter of water tapping against Dino's shower curtain, Dana could barely hear his response, as she played with her unmanicured hands.
"Cause it ain't nothing for me to be talking about. I don't always have to talk about what I'm going through. My mama seems to think so though." Dino's raspy voice came through the water, as he talked to her behind the shower curtain.
"Your mom is just worried about you, like everybody else is, that's all."
"You ain't got to worry, I'll be aight."
Dana crossed her arms over her chest and huffed, "that's what you say."
Her head rose when she heard him pull back the shower curtain, "don't be like that," just his head and neck was out of the shower, the rest of him was luckily hidden behind the curtain.
"Hand me a towel."
Dana grabbed the towel off of the bathroom counter and handed it over to Dino.
In a second, the towel was around his waist, and he was out of the shower.
Dana had stolen a quick glance of him from head to toe, finally deciding to turn away, as he got himself together.
Clearly, they were a lot more comfortable around each other than ever before. Had this been a few months ago, she wouldn't have hesitated to jump his bones, without question.
She and him both had grown a lot since then. Dana was so secure in herself as well as Dino, that something as simple as him being in a towel, could not get in between the friendship they were now trying their hardest to work on.
"Listen, it's really not a big deal, I'll just pay the bill for you, and you can just pay me back whenever you get the money."
"Nah, I wouldn't even feel right if I let you do that. It's my problem and I'll handle it my way."
"Well in case you've forgotten, we're standing in the middle of your bathroom, in the dark. You don't have any lights, and I refuse to have my kids in here like this. If you not go'n let me do it for you, then at least let me do for it for them."
Had his kids names not been mentioned, Dino would've dismissed the suggestion, without a single thought.
He had to admit though, he missed his kids like shit and would do anything in the world for them. Even if it meant, sacrificing his pride to do so.
"I'm finna get dressed, why don't you go downstairs and check on the kids, and I'll be down there in a minute." He was clearly changing the subject in order to avoid confrontation. He couldn't even look Dana directly in the eyes.
"Alright," Dana agreed, before exiting the bathroom. Deep down, she secretly hoped that he would change his mind about the bill.
She didn't have a problem helping him, because she knew if the tables had been turned, he would've given her the shirt off of his back, if she needed it. She just wanted to be able to do the same for him.
