she falls a lot
that's what they all assume
when she shows up with a new bruise
it's just another time she tripped
she fell on the stairs
that's why her foot is bruised up
not because she spent hours
kicking at wooden doors
terrified of people hearing
coming to see if she's okay
but not able to stop
she fell off her skate board
it's why her arm is all cut up
not because she's maneuvering the blade
to make it all look more natural
she gains the reputation of being clumsy
because it's easier than to admit to the truth
but the more bruises she shows up with
and more scrapes on her arms and legs
it becomes harder and harder to make up stories
and soon i'll have to admit to what i've done
