"are you okay?"
you hear someone ask behind the door
as you sit in a ball
on the bathroom floor
tears flooding out your eyes
staining your pink shirt
you open your mouth but no words come out
you try to scream for help
to say you're not okay and ask for her comfort
but you have no idea who she is
and even if you did
would you be able to say the truth?
you choke out a yes
between sniffles and gasps for air
wishing you hadn't just said that
and she didn't walk away
but all you hear is her boots click away
while you're stuck on the floor
