Shawn's POV

You know those classic scenes where a boy and a girl sit on swings at like midnight and talk about their feelings and shit?

If you say you ever wanted to do that, you're in denial. But we will let that go.

"Shawn where are we going it is dark and we are in like the middle of nowhere. Where are the street lights?!" She exclaimed. She then went on a rant about how street lights should be in every neighborhood for the safety of children and driver's. I just chuckled and ignored her pressuring questions.

She laughed when she noticed where we were when I parked in the tiny, old lot.

"You drove 30 minutes just to go to a park?"

"A park I knew no one else would be at."

"Who goes to any park after sunset?" She asked with a roll of the eyes. I don't think she ever tries to hide when she does that. I think she wants you to see it. That or she is the worst hider in the world. I could believe both.

"Us," I simply stated.

"Why are we here?" I ignored her question again, getting out of the car.

"When was the last time you went to a park?" I asked. She looked at me, biting her lip as she glanced around the land.

"Maybe when I was eleven. I went to fly kites with my aunt before she went to the Navy." She frowned.

"You lost your childhood at eleven then. I'm here to get it back for you. Plus at least this place is lit."

It wasn't really. Just one lamp post by a playground set. It was a castle, with multiple weird climbing ways to get in and slides twisting to the ground.

"I'll race you," I said. Her eyes darted at me, wide.

"Noo Sha-"

It was too late. I already had said "Go!" and was off to the big red slide.

She was yelling profanities as she chased me, actually practically eating my dust.

When she got to the slide, she was panting. I was smirking, leaning against the slide. She just glared at me as she caught her breath.

"Wanna give it a go?" I asked, patting it.

She nodded and started to go towards the stairs. When we got to the top of the slide. I sat down first, backwards. She laughed. I stared at her until she got the idea.

"I'm not sitting on you!" She yelled.

I kept staring until she huffed and sat. I wrapped my arms around her waist.

"This is such a bad idea we can't go backwards!"

We did. The wind rushed through us as she freaked out the whole way down. When we reached the bottom, we slipped right off. Her landing on me. She quickly rolled off, both of us laughing.

We just kind of looked at each other, now laying on the ground.

"I probably have wood chips in my hair," she said. I chuckled, kissed her forehead then helped her up.

We did various things around the playground. We climbed a tree. Pretended to be King and Queen of the castle. Spun as fast on the merry go round as we could get it before jumping on and holding onto each other for dear life. She was laughing that whole time we were spinning. She was gripping onto the handle so hard that her knuckles we're almost as white as the moon.

"Now the real reason we are here. Is to swing."

We got to swings, both claiming one. I could barely see her body slump into a swing. The light of the moon was the most light we could get with the lamp post being blocked by trees. All we could hear was the creaking of the metal as we drifted back and forth.

"I wanted to have a cool conversation with you. But I don't know how to start one. They make it so easy in the movies cause they have scripts." That gained a giggle out of her.

"You are so awkward."

"We can't all be perfect, manly and smooth men Y/N."

"Well you aren't smooth. Sometimes not manly. But you are perfect Shawn," she replied, her voice quiet, kinder.

"I would look at you and smile. But I can't see you." She laughed again.

"You can't have a real conversation," she said.

"How much do you miss childhood?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

"It's one of those things that you don't realize you miss. Like I never thought about how much I loved climbing trees and playing until we got here and I realized I couldn't really remember the last time I did."

"I don't know why every kid is so quick to grow up. I never was. Even though I had to. Someone had to take care of Aaliyah when my parents were gone all the time."

"I really do feel for the kids who don't have time to be kids." She sighed. A breeze moved through the branches of the trees.

"Hey Shawn?"

"Yeah?"

"Take this!" She yelled and swung right at me, hitting me with her swing.

"Y/N. These are swings not bumper cars."

"Sure they are!" We played around like that for a while. We hadn't had that much fun in a while. When we got too tired, we went and laid on a picnic table and tried to look at the stars.

It was cloudy, another movie moment ruined. But even at that, we stared at the slight glow from the moon through the clouds. It actually sort of looked cool, mysterious.

"I love you."

"What?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."

Who said it. I don't know. Hope you liked it! Give it a star for the fact that there were no stars for the poor couple to look at!
