"I'm back!" John rushed inside his house, setting his luggage down at the entrance and searching for a sign that Marley was home, other than her parked van in the driveway.
After a couple of heavy steps slowly made their way down the staircase, she appeared, exhausted and looking bigger than she ever had. "Finally," she said, her hand on her back for support as she struggled to walk towards him. "You missed my due date."
"I know," he said apologetically. "But in my defense... So did you and the kid."
They both looked down at the stomach as Marley said, "He was supposed to come last week and he's not even trying, John. I don't wanna be one of those ladies you hear about who have freaky twelve month pregnancies."
