Silence.
Kayla never even moved a muscle, "ungghh Kayla!" She said much louder this time.
Another shot of pain hit Dana's tiny body, like a strong wave of lightning. It was as if someone were standing underneath her, stabbing her with a knife over and over again, nonstop.
Those breathing exercises did nothing to calm her nerves. She was overly terrified as only the worse case scenarios clouded her mind.
"Kayla wake up! Please?!"
That surely got Kayla's attention. Like a regular sleeping beauty, she sat up raising her arms high above her head, followed by a yawn.
When her vision finally cleared, she caught glance of Dana on her knees gripping the mattress.
"Oh! Lord! Dana what happened?!"
"I-I peed...and..the-water! There was so much water!"
"Did your water break Dana?"
Unable to speak any further, Dana nodded her head in response.
"Okay, we need to get you to the hospital."
"Pl-Please Kayla, it hurt so bad."
Like a track star gunning for first place, Kayla made a beeline for the guest bedroom, where Shanteah and Terrika slept soundly.
"Shanteah! T! Get y'all asses up now! We got to take Dana to the hospital, she in labor!"
"Mmmm!" Terrika grunted. She threw one of the pillows over her head, in order to block out the bright light.
The light did nothing to Shanteah, she remained still.
"Come on y'all! Get up! Dana about to have this baby!" Kayla's voice came again. She was running back and forth from her room to the living room.
Terrika used the pillow she had over her head to smack Shanteah in the face.
"What the hell?!" She hopped up. She turned to look back at Terrika, who had returned back to her spot in the bed.
"Did you hit me with that damn pillow?"
Terrika furrowed her eyebrows, "no it was Kayla. She said we got to get up, because Dana in labor."
Shanteah's eyes widened, Dana's whining and the panic in Kayla's voice had become a lot clearer to her now.
"And you just laying in the bed, like we don't have somewhere to be? Get your ass up Terrika!" Shanteah threw on a pair of jeans, that she had tucked away in her duffle bag, and ran straight for Kayla's room.
They couldn't make it out of that house fast enough. With the exception of Terrika being the only slow one; if Shanteah wasn't there to settle everyone down, she and Kayla would've ended up fighting.
Kayla felt the most pressured out of everyone. While Shanteah remained behind the wheel, she was in the backseat trying her best to soothe and coax Dana.
All the while, dialing any family member that was willing to pick up the phone at three a.m.
Not to mention, her hair was all over her head and she wasn't even properly dressed. All girls were dressed down in pajamas and house shoes, except for Shanteah. She was the only one prepared.
All of the responsibility were placed onto her, as she parked the car right in front of the double doors of the ER, and ran inside in search of help.
Terrika continued to strike up a conversation with Dana, whilst dabbing at her sweat ridden face. Kayla tried calling both Eric and Carolyn.
Their names were the first words that came out of Dana's mouth since before they left the house. Sadly, neither one of them had come to the phone yet. But she refused to give up, she was going to keep calling until someone picked up.
