We stepped into the dressingroom, panting, sweating and full of energy. I was first in the shower.
After showering I went backstage for the afterparty, which was about to start. Scott got me a drink and we sat together on high stools next to the waist-high bar. He told me about a song he was writing. It sounded really sweet, but of course I wasn't allowed to hear it until it was finished. I really didn't want to wait until then.
Before I could pursuade him to let me hear it, Danny came off stage and straight to the bar, where he was given an entire bottle of Jack Daniels.
"Great show tonight, guys, nice twist." He said as he opened the bottle and took a swig.
"Thanks." I said, sipping on my drink.
"How you finding life on tour, Scott?" Danny asked him and they started talking. I spotted a guy being let into the afterparty by security. He looked pretty shocked to have been let in despite his backstage pass. He wore green skinny jeans with matching Converse and an Asking Alexandria sleeveless t-shirt. He also wore a thick chain with a charm made into the shape of a gun. He wore a matching green beanie over his emo style black hair.
I watched as he walked around, he seemed to take in every little thing. He spotted Danny talking with Scott, then me. He shyly gestured for me to come to him. I hesitated for a moment before I excused myself.
"Hey." He said shyly, picking at his nails. I recognised that habit as I did it too. "Great show tonight." He looked up at me.
"Thanks. " I said. "We've never done anything like that before so it was pretty new to us."
"Who was that guy you brought?" He asked, trying to sound casual as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
"Oh that was James. Our tour manager." I said, he nodded as if he was taking a mental note of everything I'd said. I looked over to the other side of the stage and spotted James. "In fact, there he is. Here, I'll introduce you." I said walking over to James. I knew that he would be following so there was no point in looking over my shoulder.
"James!" I called, he looked first to me, then the stranger who followed me.
"Hey guys." He said, raising his eyebrow slightly.
"James, this is.. Uh..." I turned to the guy in green.
"Max, great to meet you." He said, putting out his hand to shake James'. He took it.
"Hey man. So, how'd you find the show?" James said, probably meaning Asking Alexandria's set. Maybe. I left them to it and went back over to the bar, where Scott's arm was still in the same position as when I'd left, waiting to wrap back around my waist.
A few drinks later and we were on our way back to the tour bus. We had one more date and then we had the weekend off. In Europe! We were to fly to France as soon as we'd played in Norwich.
My brain was fuzzy but the rest of me was buzzing with energy as I danced my way up the stairs in the bus. Scott's strong hands held my hips to steady me as I moved. As I got to the last step I lost my footing, so he lifted me up, bridal style. "C'mon, baby. Up we go." He said as he pulled my up against his muscled chest. He said sweet words to me as he carried me down the bus and eventually put me down on the huge bed. I changed into my nightshirt and curled up as sleep slowly took over me. I fell asleep to someone humming softly.
