Chapter 15 - Sneaking Out

Start from the beginning

So I hauled myself into bed and turned on the TV hoping that some rerun would lull me into sleep.  No luck.  It was 2am before I finally fell asleep.  Monday morning I woke up and I went to work.  I was physically at work but my mind was anywhere but at the office.  The reality of having a one night stand still hadn’t settled in.  By lunch time I couldn’t take it anymore and I picked up the phone and called Tina.

“Tina what are you doing tonight?”

Tina stated, “I’ve got a date. Why?”

I asked, “Can you cancel your date? I really need a girl’s night out with you.  I’ve done something crazy and so out of character and only you can help me.”

“How crazy? Because this guy’s hot,” Tina asked.

“I had a one night stand a few weeks ago.”

“Okay given that this is you Anjali, that is crazy and for that I will reschedule my date! Who did you sleep with? Do I know him? Was it good?” she was practically screaming.

“I’ll be over at 8pm at your place.  Does pizza and wine sound good to you? I’ll give you some of the details when we see each other.” I chuckled.

“Damn it Anjali – this is too juicy! You actually had a one night stand! I wish I could take off of work to hear this.  Alright I’ll see you tonight.  Bye.”

“Bye.”

That evening I headed over to Tina’s apartment with pizza and a bottle of wine in hand.  I had already decided I wasn’t going to tell her that it was Alex and that it had just been this weekend.  She knew Alex and that would make it even more awkward.  So I was going to lie and say it happened a few weeks ago with someone who I worked with, an ex-client.  Alex was kind of an ex-client if you thought of my working at Tarun Jewelers as being a client of mine.

I knocked on her door.  Tina answered and pulled me in so hard I almost fell.

“Okay spill! I just canceled a hot date and I could barely focus on work today!” Tina blurted out as she grabbed the pizza box out of my hand.  I kicked off my shoes and sunk into her couch and took the glass of wine she handed me and took a big gulp.

“Okay, I was at a work related party a couple of weeks ago and I saw a client I worked with in the past.  We started chatting and caught up on each other’s lives.  Then I moved along and mingled with some of the other guests at the party, but we kept crossing paths throughout the party.  At the end of the party I went outside to catch a cab and he followed behind me.  We had a hard time flagging down a cab so when one finally pulled up he asked if we could share it and I said yes,” I stated setting the stage close enough to the truth.

“Go on.  How did you end up from sharing a cab into his bed?” Tina asked incredulously.

“Well, his place came before mine and when we came close to dropping him off he asked me if I wanted to come up for a drink,” I paused to grab a slice of pizza.  “I wasn’t thinking and the word yes slipped out of my mouth before I could think.  The next thing I knew he was opening my side of the door and paid the cabbie and we were heading up to his apartment.   We went up to his place and he poured me a drink and we sat enjoying our drink while looking out his windows at an amazing view of the city.  We talked forever and after a couple of hours I got up to go home.  Except before I could get my stuff to leave, I somehow I ended up kissing him.  Then we kept going from kissing to all of the bases and I ended up in his bed.  Tina I’ve never had a one night stand.  I don’t know what to do!” I confessed.  God, it felt good to share this with someone.

“Well what happened in the morning? Did you talk about seeing each other again or did he just kick you out the door?” Tina asked.

“Well…there was no morning.  I snuck out before he woke up.  I didn’t know what to do.  You’re always saying how having sex doesn’t mean you can stay the entire night.  I wasn’t sure to stay or go and we didn’t exactly discuss it beforehand.  I just hauled out of there so there would be no awkward morning conversation,” I stated.

“Have you spoken with him since?” Tina asked.

“No, I haven’t.  Neither of us has called each other.”  I felt bad lying.  It had only been two days since I slept with him.

“Anjali, if he hasn’t called you in two weeks I don’t think he’s going to call.  Are you going to be okay? Is that why you’re here? You want him to call and he hasn’t?” she asked with worry.

“Tina, I want to have sex with him again.  I forgot how much I liked having sex and it’s been too long since I had satisfying sex.  Raj wasn’t exactly giving me fireworks.  I’ve never had sex outside of a relationship except this one time and now I want more.   Is that awful of me?” I asked.  Of course I’m asking my one friend who has no problems having sex and one night stands.  She openly goes out looking for sex and without a relationship in most cases.   She wasn’t exactly as wild as Samantha from Sex in the City, but she is as close to someone as Samantha I have ever known.

Tina spit out her wine when I finished and then stared at me for a while.  “Anjali, I feel like I’m in a Twilight Zone.  You just had a one night stand and you want more! I would never have seen this happening in a million years.  And, let me get this straight, Raj wasn’t good in the sack and you were going to marry him? What would you have done if you had married him? And, how did he sleep with other women when he couldn’t even satisfy one woman!” she gushed.

I chuckled, only Tina could make me laugh and feel better about a bad situation.  “I hoped he would get better in bed after we got married.  I just assumed the stress from work was interfering with his performance.  And, yes, I thought the same thing how did another woman find him satisfying.  Or maybe that’s why he wasn’t so good with me because he was so worn out by Rosy!”

“But, let’s get back to my current problem.  This guy is a player so I know it didn’t mean much to him.  But, if I sleep with him again, will I start getting attached? Tina, you know me, I don’t just do sex.  Even though right now, I just want sex! What do I do?”

“Oh sweetheart, that’s a tough one.  I don’t know what to tell you.  At least now I know you get all of my sex jokes,” she smiled.  “Are you going to see him anytime soon?” Tina asked.

“I’ll probably see him at some point in time; we do have some contacts in common so we’re bound to end up at some social engagement together,” I said this part truthfully.

“I have the perfect solution! You should say that you will sleep with him 4 more times and then you’ll stop.  That’s enough to get some good sex in and forget all of the bad experience with Raj, but not enough that you’ll fall for him.  Just limit the number of times you have sex with him, plus if you spread it out then you get both – good sex and your heart stays intact,” Tina stated with satisfaction.
