Trilochan says," Ab tum hamse kutark karogi. Agle ek hafte mai, Shubhra, tumhari Zimmedari hai choti Bahu ko khana banana sikhana. Yadi nhi, toh hum tumhari maa ko sab kuch bata denge. Tum ardh ratri, sabke sone ke baad sikha sakti ho." Both Bondita and Shubhra nod. Trilochan leaves and Shubhra gives Bondita an assuring glance.
After Bondita leaves Saudamini comes in the haveli. She sees Nani maa and runs to her. She takes Nani maa's blessings. Nani maa blesses her without a smile. She stands up and says," Nani maa, aap kitne samay baad yaha aai hai. Maine aapko kitna yaad kiya." Nani maa just nods and Saudamini fumes. Saudamini asks,"Anirudh kaha hai?". Nani maa makes a face and says," Uski patni se hi pucho, use hi pata hoga." She calls out Bondita and Bondita smiles at Saudamini. Nani maa says," Bondita zara Saudamini ko batana ki Anirudh kaha hai?" Bondita says," Saudamini didi woh toh kabke daftar chale gaye. Aapko kuch zaruri kaam tha? Agar haa, toh aap mujhe bata dijiye, jab woh aayenge toh mai keh dungi." Saudamini says," Nhi Bondita, mujhe koi zaruri kaam nhi tha. Woh toh mai ese hi puch rahi thi. Tum batao, mere saath bazaar chalogi? Meri saheli ki shaadi hai, uske liye kapde lene hai. Iss bahane hamari jaan pehchaan bhi ho jaegi." Bondita smiles happily and sees towards nani maa. Nani maa nods in approval and says," Jaao Bahu, tumhari saas ko mai bata dungi." Bondita grins and says," Aap rukiye Saudamini di, mai aati hu." Bondita runs inside and comes with her bag.
They leave for the market. At the clothes store Saudamini buys some clothes. While leaving Bondita notices some men's clothes. She goes near the vendor and says," Bhaiya yeh kurta pajama kitne mai diya?" Saudamini comes to her and says," Yeh kiske liye le rahi ho Bondita?" Bondita says," Yeh mai pati babu ke liye le rahi hu." Saudamini laughs and Bondita looks at her confused. She says," Anirudh vilayat se aaya hai, woh yeh sab nhi pehnta hai." Bondita feels bad and keeps back the clothes and leaves with Saudamini. Saudamini sees her fallen face and smirks. She says fakely," Koi baat nhi Bondita, tumhari abhi abhi shadi hui hai na, isliye tumhe nhi pata, mai Anirudh ko apne bachpan se jaanti hu. Isliye mujhe pata hai." Bondita smiles fakely at her and keeps moving.
They reach home after sometime. Saudamini and Bondita enter the haveli. Saudamini sees Bihari muttering something. She goes to him and says, "Aree Bihari kaha jaa rahe ho? Aur yeh kya bad bada rahe ho?". He scratches his head and says," Woh hamse Barrister babu ne kuch samaan mangwaya tha. Hame yad tha, ham wahi bol rahe the , par ab aapne rok diya toh hum bhul gaye." Saudamini laughs at him. Bondita says," Bhari babu, mujhe bataiye, mai aapki madad karti ho, thoda kuch toh yad hoga.". He again scratches his neck and then exclaims," Aree ha, woh lagate hai naa, pp see... Aree haannn woh phus phus." Saudamini says," Perfume?". He nods happily. Bondita says," Aap jaiye, mai de dungi pati babu ko." Saudamini turns to Bondita and says," Anirudh bohot dhyaan rakhta hai, usse sirf kuch hi perfume achhe lagte hai. Tumhe nhi pata hoga uska manpasand perfume. Tum jaao, mai de dungi."
Bondita was about to go when Nani maa came there hearing them. She says, "Jaanti hu ki Bondita nhi jaanti Anirudh ko abhi achhe se, par agar koshish hi nhi karegi toh pata kese chalega? Aur tum bhi kab tak madad karogi apne dost ki, aakhir main rehna toh usko apni patni ke saath hi hai. Jao Bahu, dekar aao Anirudh ko uska phus phus." Bondita goes.
She sees a variety of men's perfume laid down on the table. She smells each one of them and takes the one she likes the most. She takes it to Anirudh's study hoping that he would like it. Saudamini sees her going and calls out Bondita. She asks Bondita about the perfume she was taking. Saudamini smells it and frowns, says," Yeh perfume nahi pasand Anirudh ko. Usse musk perfume pasand hai." Bondita gets disappointed and was about to return back to room when Nani maa says," Bahu yeh hi lekar jaao tum." Bondita goes nervously to his study. She was in her own world and gets bumped into her pati babu. Anirudh smiles at her and Bondita tries to smile back at him.
Bondita hands him the perfume. She says," Woh Bihari babu aa rahe the, par maine kaha mai de deti hu. Mujhe aapki pasand nhi pata thi, isliye mujhe joh pasand aaya woh mai le aayi. Saudamini didi ne bataya tha ki aapko musk perfume pasand hai par nani maa ne kaha ki yahi lekar jaau. Isliye yeh le aayi. Agar aapko yeh thik na lage toh aap dusra le lijiyega." She was continuously blabbering . Anirudh keeps a finger on her lips to make her quiet. Bondita gets stunned. She looks down at his fingers which were pressed on his lips. Anirudh followed her gaze and removed his finger.
Bondita ran out of the room to avoid any awkwardness. Saudamini and Nani notice Bondita running back to her room with a dejected face. Saudamini says," Nani maa, maine aapse kaha tha na ki Anirudh ki pasand nhi pata Bondita ko. Dekho, bechari ko shayad bura lag gaya." Anirudh steps out and Saudamini goes near him. She could easily smell the perfume which Bondita brought with her. She says," Anirudh, tumhe toh musk perfume pasand hai na. Yeh kyu laga liya?" Nani maa comes near them and says," Samay ke saath pasand badal jaati hai Saudamini. Aur ab toh Anirudh ka vivaah ho gaya hai, toh uski pasand bhi ab apni patni ki pasand ke saath dhal jaayegi." Anirudh smiles and leave for his room. Nani maa gives a smug look to Saudamini and leaves. 'Ese kese badal sakti hai pasand. Anirudh ki pasand hamesha se mai hi thi aur mai hi rahungi.' Saudamini thinks.
