Chapter Sixty-Three: Olivia Has Some Fun

"Why am I suddenly glad that my family has no title to pass onto me," Abby said.

"Nobody likes paperwork," Olivia says. "Not even the leader of the magic council."

"You have got to be kidding me," Melody nearly threw the book that she was reading.

"I think I'm gonna be sick," Hestia had her hand over her mouth. "Why would they include magical pictures in this book? And especially pictures like that!"

She basically slammed her book closed as she looked a little green. And since she was a healer and had seen plenty of blood and gore in the past, making her nauseous was a big deal.

"They seriously put wand-users through these things," T'challa was shocked and horrified. "No wonder this tournament was originally canceled because of the high death toll."

"Just goes to show you that when it comes to idiocy, this country ranks at the very top," Krinos said.

"No doubt there," Hawk says. "Listen to what I just found out. The youngest Triwizard champion was sixteen years old and he took part in a tournament about a hundred and seventy-five years ago. He died in the first task when the task was to duel against a manticore."

"A manticore," Harry gasped. "Those creatures that have a human head on a lion's body with dragon wings and a scorpion tail! How do people, even wand-users, see that as entertainment?!?"

"Your guess is as good as mine, brother dear," Melody shook her head. "I just read about a champion in a tournament held about two-hundred and thirty years ago. She had to face a Kraken and was literally ripped in two by it."

"Better that than how I just saw a previous champion bitten, wrapped up, and then eaten by an Arachne-like creature in this book," Hestia was still looking a bit green.

"Arachne," Abby raised an eyebrow. "That spider woman that thought that she could weave better than Athena?"

Abby may be from Egypt, but she was still a descendant from Greece and knew about almost every myth and legend that originated there. Plus, since she was the resident expert on all things global at Crystal Rose, she knew a lot of things about a lot of different places. Sometimes, it was scary how much knowledge she managed to save inside of that brain of hers.

"There is not a single tournament that has been held where all the champions have survived," Olivia just finished reading her third book. "There was even a tournament held almost a hundred and fifty years ago where all three of the champions had died."

"I think the best question to ask is why was this tournament not canceled long before it reached that point," Harry did not think magical Britain could get any worse, but then it did.

"Wand-users have got to be the most egotistical magical beings on the planet," Mason said. "Even more than demons and that says something."

"Not every wand-user is like them, though," Viktor pointed out. "While a little more bronze than brains, Bulgarian wand-users are a lot more fair than those around here."

"Viktor's right," Hawk says. "And I know for a fact that American wand-users are also a lot more tolerable as well. There are even a lot of wand-users that visit House of Mystery, the mystic soul school in New Orleans."

"It is the same in Africa," T'challa added. "The wand-user school in Uganda even teaches their students to become animagus when they are about fourteen or fifteen. It's impressive for wand-user standards."

"Well, I have all that I need," Olivia closed the book in front of her. "A quick mirror conference to the magic council and I will be teaching this ministry yet another lesson."
