It had been two weeks since your boyfriend, Tyler Bozak, had not made it into the playoffs. Not a day had gone by that Tyler hadn’t mentioned it. Unfortunately, the Toronto Maple Leafs had just had a bad year. Tyler, however, blamed the lack of wins on himself. He felt that he did not do a great job as a offensive player, and the thoughts were tearing him up.
You sat with your legs in Tyler’s lap on the couch. Tyler clicked through the channels while you played with his free hand. He clicked to a sports channel and saw the Sharks vs. Kings game 2. He sighed and changed the channel. You took a deep breath and sat up. You moved over and sat on his lap. Tyler looked confused. You turned the tv off with the remote. You wrapped your arms around Tyler’s neck and hugged him.
“I love you.” You said.
You felt Tyler’s arms wrap around your middle.
You continued, “It also doesn’t matter to me if you are in the play offs or not. I was there for your every game of the regular season and I can tell you that did fantastic. Sometimes things just don’t go well. But you win as a team and you loose as a team. It was in no way your fault. Let’s just enjoy our off season and get you ready for next season.”
You hugged him again. Tyler pulled back and gave you a big smile.
“Thank you, (Y/N). I really needed that.”
You leaned forward and kissed him. “Now how about we go out tonight?”
He eyed you suspiciously. You never want to go out, so this was out of character. “What do you have in mind?”
You shrug and hop off the couch. “Let’s just go out somewhere and explore the city. Toronto’s a fun city but we hardly ever get to see it during the season.”
After thinking for a minute he stood up and grabbed his hat. “I’ve always wanted to check out this sushi place Phil told me about.”
"See? We could start there and just wander around the city, see where we end up," you smiled at him brightly, pulling him toward the door for a fun adventure.
