“Guess what’s in 3 days and 4 hours?” your boyfriend Beau Bennett reminded you for the 10th time that week.

“What, babe?” You asked trying to not sound annoyed.

“The Penguins vs. Boston game!” You had seen it coming.

“Yep.” You answered.

“Then I can see you again.” Beau suddenly sounded sad.

You sighed.

For 6 months you had been attending college at Boston University. That meant you had to move states and be very far from your boyfriend Beau. At first he was very supportive, but now, as time went on and you only got to see each other when he was in Boston, it was hard.

For Christmas Beau decided to give you a present early. He bought you tickets to fly to Pittsburgh and watch him play against the Boston Bruins. For weeks he had been bringing it up during every conversation. You were excited, but definitely not as excited as Beau.

“I can’t wait! Not a lot has changed in 6 months… But I miss you…”

You smiled and put the phone between your ear and your shoulder. You finished tiding up your desk while talking to him.

“Yeah. I miss you too, babe. It’s been quite a while.”

Beau sighed, “I love you, (Y/Nick/N).”

“I love you too.” You said.

“Well, I’ll call you tomorrow. Okay?” Beau said.

You nodded, “Alright. Sounds good. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” Beau replied before hanging up.

~ 2 days later~

You stood wrapped in a thick winter jacket waiting at the airport. Just a day after your phone conversation with Beau, a huge winter storm blew in. Most of the airports in the area had already closed down and yours was the only one that hadn’t yet. You sighed and looked out the window at the snow covered runway. The city was almost completely dark due to the power outages.

The loud speaker sounded, “All fights to and from Logan Airport have been canceled.”

Your heart sank. You looked down at you bags and sighed. You picked up your bags and started heading out to your car. Halfway there you decided to give Beau a call.

“Hey! Are you about to get on the plane?”

You sighed.

“What’s wrong?” Beau asked once he heard your sigh.

“All flights got cancelled… It’s just too stormy… I’m sorry, Babe. I know how bad you wanted me to see you. I wanted to see you too.”

You heard something thrown down hard on the other end, “God damn it! I tried… so hard to make everything perfect.”

You sighed and unlocked your car. “I know… I am really sorry.”

Beau was quiet for a minute. “It’s alright..It’s not your fault. In a few weeks when the weather clears up I can get you another ticket. I just really wanted to see you…”

You climbed into the front seat and turned the car on. “I know, Beau. I wanted to see you too.”

“We will soon. We just have to wait. I love you, (Y/N).”

“Okay, I love you too.”

You hung up the phone and started to drive away.
