You slammed the door, not wanting to hear another excuse. You’d had it with James’ behavior: staying out late, partying, and coming home drunk.

“Come on, it’s cold out! Please let me in!” He begged through the closed door.

“Go stay with Paulie!” You shouted and stormed away from the door. You watched him trudge down the driveway, taking one last look at the house, before walking next door to Paul Martin’s. You went to bed, proud of the fact that you stood up to him instead of caving in when you saw his puppy dog eyes.

But when you woke up the next morning, you rolled over to give him a hug, forgetting that he wasn’t there. His side of the bed was cold, and you sat up, staring at the place his head usually rested on the pillow. You sighed, and rolled over to text him that he could come home. You unlocked the front door and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

Twenty minutes later, he came home looking disheveled and angry. You were going to offer him some breakfast when he stormed into the kitchen. “You don’t get to lock me out of my own house!”

“I’m sorry! I know, it was stupid, but I was mad and not thinking right,” you apologized. “I’m just tired of you coming home late after ‘going out for a drink’ with the guys.”

“What do you mean ‘going out for a drink’? That’s exactly what we were doing, drinking. What did you think we were doing? Going to strip clubs, or getting whores, or doing drugs?” He said sarcastically. “Seriously (Y/N), do you not have any faith in me?”

“Of course I know you’re not doing any of that stuff. I just,” you sighed. “I just want to spend more time with you. All you do on your nights off is go out with your team mates.”

“Babe you’re not making any sense; you want to spend time with me so you lock me out?” He cocked his head to the side and his messy, unkempt hair fell across his face. “Why don’t we have a date night soon. I have a game tonight, maybe tomorrow?”

“I’d like that. Maybe we could get dinner, and then come home and watch a movie or something,” you suggested, and smiled up at him.

“Yeah, ‘or something,’ we’ll see about that,” he teased you and pulled you in for a hug. You looked up at him and leaned closer so you could kiss him on the cheek.
