About a year ago you had gotten to meet Derick Brassard. Honestly, you considered it the high light of your life so far. Kind of jokingly you had asked him if he would ever take you to prom. Never in a million years did you expect him to say yes. Now here you are, one year later, standing out in your mom’s garden taking prom pictures with Derick.

“You can stop smiling now. Picture time is over! Now it’s time for you guys to head off.” Your mom stated. Since the New York Rangers had been her favorite team for years, she seemed to be more excited than even you were.

Derick and you followed after your mom. Derick opened the front door for you and smiled. You felt your heart hammering in your chest as you stepped out onto your porch. Sitting in front of your house was a large black limo.

You looked at Derick completely surprised. “A limo?”

He smiled and grabbed your hand. “Yes. Of course. Tonight is you senior prom, and I’m going to make it memorable.”

You looked at your mom and saw how big she was smiling. You gave your final hugs before climbing into the back of the limo with Derick.

The limo driver drove for an hour to get you to prom. The whole way you and Derick chatted about hockey and about what you wanted to go to college for. You also talked to him about the other players on the team, and how he was liking the internet attention. He laughed and said it was something he was certainly not used to. Right before the driver pulled up front, you and Derick decided to take some selfies for instagram and twitter. As you posted them you could practically hear the jealous screams of his fans.

Derick got out of the car and helped you get out. He walked with you hand in hand into the building where you were to eat dinner. You noticed a lot of peoples extremely shocked expressions when you walked into the room. You smiled and ignored everyone. Finally you found your table with all of your friends. Derick held out the chair for you before he took his own seat. While eating a delicious steak and potato dinner you introduced Derick to your friends. For the rest of dinner you all conversed about things. Then, music began playing. It was a slow song to start out.

Derick turned to you and offered you his hand, “Would you care to dance?” You smiled and nodded. You took his hand before he led you to the dance floor.

You put your left hand on his shoulder and held his hand in your right. Gently, you both swayed to 1,000 years by Christina Perri.

“I didn’t ever go to prom.” Derick laughed. You looked up at him with a very surprised expression.

"Really? Why not?” You asked.

He shrugged, “I never liked anyone enough to go.”

You smiled, “So… Do I fall under the you thought I was sweet so you would go with me category, or the you are a fan and I feel obligated category?” You asked him.

He smiled and shook his head, “No, you fall under the category of a really cool girl who I am very glad I met.”

You smiled and continued dancing. “Thank you for saying yes…” You mumbled.

Derick smiled wide. “No, thank you.” He said.
