You made your way through the arena like you had a million times. You worked your way passed all the annoying people who seemed to be moving at half your speed. Finally, you found yourself at the PensGear store which was quite deserted. You tried to ignore the few people who were in the store. It was quite surprising that there was anyone in Consol on a day the Penguins weren’t playing anyways. You walked casually back to the hats in search of one for your younger brother who’s birthday was coming up. You sighed when you encountered a guy standing exactly where you needed to go. Patiently, you waited for a moment while the shopper looked at each hat.

“Excuse me.” You gently said while taping on his shoulder when you ran out of patients. The guy seemed to ignore you. More aggressively you tapped on him.

He looked surprised, but not as surprised as you were when you realized you were looking right into Sidney Crosby’s face.

“Oh… Hi.” You stumbled over your words a little.

He smirked, “Let me guess, autograph?” He asked.

You were taken back by his comment. Hearing the egotistical tone you decided to answer back with sass yourself, “Uh no. I want to look at the hats.”

Sidney looked confused then realized he was standing in the way. He took a rejected step to the side. You proceeded to look at the hats on display and eventually he did as well. You found a hat in the perfect design and size and you pulled it off the wall. Deciding to swallow your pride you looked back to Sidney. He pretended like he didn’t know you were looking at him.

You sighed, “Sorry. It’s been a crazy day. My name is (Y/N). I’d ask you what yours is, but I’m pretty sure you already know that I know it.”

You saw Sidney smile. He set back the hat he was holding and turned to face you. He stuck out his hand, “Either way it’s rude not to introduce myself. I’m Sidney Crosby, and it is very nice to meet you.”

You tried to pretend like you weren’t flattered, but you really were. You smiled and shook his hand. “Now that I have had a second to think about it, I would actually love a signature.”

Sidney laughed and pulled a pen from his pants pocket. You pursed your lips then laughed, “Do most hockey players carry pens?”

Sidney shook his head, “Nope. Only the good ones.”

He handed you back the hat and winked. You blushed again and smiled, “Thank you. Well… Have a good day. And good luck on the game tomorrow!”

You turned around and headed for the front counter. Sidney grabbed his hat and caught up to you. “Hey, now that you have sassed me I think I at least get to know your story.”

You looked sideways at him and laughed. “My story?”

He nodded as you reached the counter. “Yes, who’s your favorite team? Do you skate? Are you single?” he trailed off suggestively.

You scoffed and set your hat on the counter. The cashier rung up your hat. Sidney then set his hat on the counter as well and nodded at the guy. The guy rung up Sidney’s hat as well. You turned and looked at him, fully realizing what he was about to do, but deciding to mess with him about it anyways.

“Excuse me, Mr. Crosby, but I feel like it is not very chivalrous to make a woman pay for your items as well as her own.”

He laughed and made a bowing gesture. “Well I’m sorry Milady. How about I clear our history by paying for us both? Maybe I’ll even throw in a date to insure no hard feelings.”

Your jaw dropped as he handed the cashier a black credit card. He smirked as he handed you your bag. “Well… Thank you… In no way did you have to… but I appreciate it… a lot!”

Sidney smiled and started walking towards the exit with you. “Now you never did answer my questions.”

You laughed and looked back at him, “My favorite team is of course the Penguins…”

He smiled, “I do not know how to skate, and yes, I am currently single.”

Sidney smiled even bigger. “Well, (Y/N), I might be going out on a limb here, but I would love to take you out sometime. You seem like a sweet girl.”

You laughed a little, because you had been seconds away from being rude to him. “Hm… You know, Sidney? I think that would be a great idea.”

Sidney smirked and asked for your phone. He placed his number in your phone and you put yours in his. “Be expecting a call.”

He winked before walking away. You stood there in front of PensGear for a few more seconds while you tried to process what had just happened.

To be continued?
