Finally, the stadium series had taken note of Northern California. The Giants baseball stadium, AT&T Park, had been converted to hold the hockey game Sharks vs. Ducks. Luckily for you, your Fiancee Jason Demers, was a San Jose Shark. Part of the Stadium Series was the morning skate where the families of the players could come use the ice. Jason had told you earlier that week that he wanted to come teach you how to skate since you had never done it before.

“Jaaason…” You whined as he guided you to the front door to your guy’s house, “Even their kids can skate. This is embarrassing.”

Jason grabbed your stuff and shut the door. You stood on the porch with your arms crossed. Jason stopped and sighed, “Babe, they aren’t going to laugh. They are going to be happy to see you trying.”

You dropped your arms and decided to not argue anymore. “Fine.”

Jason walked passed you and kissed your cheek. “Come on.” You sighed and followed him out to the car.

Jason pulled into the parking lot for the players. He grabbed your guy’s bags and held your hand as you walked into AT&T Park. You felt more nervous as you got closer to the ice. Jason said hello to a few teammates and sat down on a bench to put on his skates. He handed you your skates once he got his on. You held them in your hands and bit you lip nervously. Jason sighed and knelt down in front of you.

Gently he lifted your chin. “Listen, I love you so much. I’m not making you come out here because I want to be mean. I want you to love what I do. I want you to overcome this fear, because I know it is only holding you back.”

You set the skates down in front of you and kissed him. “Thank you, Jason. I… I think I can do this.” Jason smiled and helped you put on your skates.

Slowly he helped you get to your feet and make your way to the edge of the ice. Jason skated on and turned around. He held his hands out to you and smiled.

“Come on. You can do it.”

You took a deep breath and stepped onto the ice. You started to loose your balance, but Jason reached out and steadied you. “Maybe hold the wall for a little bit.”

You did as you were told and slowly were able to scoot a little further down the glass. Jason skated by your side protectively and continued talking you through it. A few of the family members of the team skated by you and waved. Slowly you felt yourself relaxing. You lifted your hand of the wall and skated a foot before falling on your bum. You sighed as Jason helped you up. “

You’re doing great.” he assured.

After an hour, Jason helped you off the ice and helped you take off your skates.

Once you changed shoes he hugged you tight. “I am so proud of you.”

You hugged him back and kissed him. “I love you so much, Jason. Thank you for caring.”

He smiled, “I love you too.”

You grabbed your things and headed home. For the next few hours you spent time with Jason before he went back to the stadium for the game that the Sharks eventually won.
