Mystic Falls, Virginia, 1864

When Stefan exits his home he stands at the top of the steps and watches as a carriage arrives. He looks over when the door opens and two women step out, the second one looking over at him with a smirk

Stefan: "You must be Miss Pierce."

Katherine: "Please, call me Katherine." she holds her hand out with a smirk and curtsy and he kisses her hand, smiling at her

Elena: "What are you?" she asks when Stefan opens the front door to find her standing there and he looks at her with shocked eyes "What are you?" she repeats and he sighs as tears gather in his eyes

Stefan: "You know."

Elena: "No, I don't."

Stefan: "Yes, you do, or you wouldn't be here."

Elena: "It's not possible. It can't be." she shakes her head and he sets the stake down in his hands making her back away a little

Stefan: "Everything you know...and every belief that you have is about to change. Are you ready for that?"

Elena: "What are you?"

Stefan: "I'm a vampire."

Elena: "I shouldn't have come."

Stefan: "No. Please."

Elena: "No. No" he tries to grab her hand but she pushes away from him and runs to her car but he speeds in front of her "How did you do that?"

Stefan: "Please don't be afraid of me."

Elena: "Let me go."

Stefan: "No. Elena, there's things that you have to know and understand."

Elena: "Let me go!"

Stefan: "Elena, please." she gets out of his grip and gets into her car speeding away from his home

Arriving at her house, she hurries inside and goes into the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror while taking deep breaths before she quietly opens Jeremy's door to find him sitting in a chair with his headphones in. She goes into her room and tries to relax on her bed but she quickly stands up and begins pacing around

Stefan: "Elena" his voice calls out, making her quickly turn around to see him standing at the window and she tries to go out the door but he shuts it, pinning her against it a little "I would never hurt you. You're safe with me."

Elena: "All those animal attacks, those people who died." she turns around to face him with a scared look in her eyes

Stefan: "No. That was damon."

Elena: "Damon?"

Stefan: "Yes. I don't drink human blood. That's not how I choose to survive, but Damon does. I'll explain everything to you, but I beg you, Elena, do not tell anybody."

Elena: "How can you ask me that?"

Stefan: "Because you knowing this is dangerous for so many reasons. You can hate me, but I need you to trust me."

Elena: "Just go. Just go, please. Go. If you mean me no harm, then just go." she pleads and he gives her a sad look

Stefan: "I never wanted this." he softly says and backs away from her. She opens the door to walk out but hears a whoosh sound and turns around to find him gone and she quickly goes over to lock her window

Stefan: "Hello."

Damon: "I want my ring." he tells him after finding a phone on one of the bodies he had just eaten
