The only thing that calls for healing
is the belief that we could, under any
circumstances, be separated from
our spiritual Source and Its power.

~ Jesse Jennings

No matter what our emotional storm,
or what our objective situation, may be,
there is always a something hidden in
the inner being that has never been violated.
We may stumble, but always there is that
Eternal Voice, forever whispering within
our ear, that thing which causes the
eternal quest, that thing which forever
sings and sings.

~ Ernest Holmes

A friend wrote to me recently – "I've realized that I have no to little connection to spirit anymore. I was wondering if you had any advice." On the same day my daughter wrote to me – "I've been seeking a higher level of spirituality or meaning as of late and have noticed that same desire in my children". She was concerned that there was too much emphasis from my son-in-law on "material things or what people think of him" and that my grandchildren are not "getting the quality time they deserve from either of us" because so much time is spent just trying to recover from severe economic impacts over several years.

To the first one I wrote – As to what "concerns" you here – your perception of a "connection" to Spirit, it is only that – perception, or the lack of perceiving It. Spirit is the core essence of who you are. Spirit cannot leave your physical form, without your form ceasing to live. It is the Life Force, the Chi, that animates matter. It is the individual expression of the universal Spirit or All That Is. Whether or not this is a "Soul", that remains forever individualized, is a matter of debate that can never be "answered" by anyone living. Among my own most thoughtful friends, there is not a commonality of perspective regarding this. Spirit is the witness and observer within you. Spirit will not "force" Its presence, or your awareness of It, upon you. Spirit is the quietest NON-AUDIBLE (even with the inner ear) voice you can intuit. That is one of the keys – it is a whole, complete knowing –> beyond words. It is instantaneous and utterly trustworthy.

To be certain Life is a mysterious experience. There are aspects to this world that are hard to define or categorize that are experienced by many people. Sometimes one has to set boundaries and control consciously their interaction with these for their own sanity as well as for their personal well-being and for their very happiness and contentment. I have another friend who I've been supporting through various life transitions – from marriage, through divorce, and into relocation and single life. She is interested in the non-physical spirit world and this brings some very interesting occurrences into her living space and awareness. She is learning how to incorporate "protections" even as she wishes to remain wide open to unusual experiences. Whether so much intentional "protection" is actually necessary can only be a personal decision made by any such person.

The media creeps into the mind and can replicate and replay its recordings inside of us. This is dangerous but it is a fact of modern life. In nature I always feel the most peaceful. This can be true for anyone who has achieved any degree of "quieting" their mind. My own mind has grown quite a bit quieter over the last few years and it is true that this achievement is partly from focused efforts to make it so. I have attended some gong sessions that provide healing by sound waves. I found these VERY effective at removing my own brain "clutter" and this has given me a noticeably quieter mind overall. Simply becoming aware of the continuous "chatter" of the mind and realizing that "chatter" is not Spirit nor the core essence of Self can be a good first step towards quieting the mind that anyone can take.

There is one assurance that I can confidently provide to anyone – It is not possible for Spirit to desert you but it is possible for you to tune Spirit out or allow the Ego to block your awareness of Spirit. That is the imbalance that Ego prefers. I once spent 60 days of focused effort for the express purpose of re-balancing the two elements of my consciously aware "self". That 2 month long effort was developed to force the Ego to step back out of dominance. In my own experience of it it worked very well and I will admit that it actually did surprise me that it worked so well. That does not mean it would work for every person but I found it effective. That experiment is outlined in the John Randolph Price book "A Spiritual Philosophy for the New World".

I feel that in a very real way each of these people who have turned to me for my perspective are in some very real way related. These represent to my own mind – human needs for meaning and quality of life. All that we know is filtered and interpreted. There is no such thing as objectivity or a truly "direct" knowledge of the world. If we can withdraw the activities of the senses and isolate that part of the mind responsible for filtering sensory input, we can sometimes find a neutral place that is wholly turned inward and in that place connect with our core essence. What we focus on each and every moment of each and every day has a tremendous impact on what we experience. Who we are is not changed by any outer condition. Our wholeness and well-being are revealed by the truest nature of our life's expression. Our wholeness arises from the One mind and in Spirit. It is The Work of each individual's life to discover what that wholeness is for their own self.

I believe in the reality that
I Am breathing, living and
consciously aware.
I know the core of my being
is always safe and never
violated by Life's circumstances.
Spirit is the core essence of
who I am – the Life Force or Chi
that animates my physical expression.
I consider this core self to be
my Beloved, my Friend, my eternal
self that is companion to this life's
incarnation as my Ego's form.
I find meaning and an assurance
of a certain good quality of Life
in my spiritual practices.
