In the instant of our first
breath, we are infused with
the single greatest form in
the universe – the power to
translate the possibilities of
our minds into the reality of
our world.

~ Gregg Braden,
The Spontaneous Healing of Belief

We are told to be still and know
that all things are possible. ...
This is the way Life works. We
... become part of this celestial
choir ... to rightly affirm life.

~ Ernest Holmes

The world today is not the same world it was when I was a child. Television was still a "new" medium when I was a child. Learning to type was important but computers were not a part of most people's everyday lives. Communications with family still took place via snail mail (physical letters that were delivered by a mailman). There has already been completed a huge shift in human evolution that not all people even realize has occurred.

Thanks to such social media as Facebook, which is hugely inclusive and perhaps more so than any other such channel I currently know of, we're all "one" in a very real sense. We can experience elections or unfortunate events or hopeful joinings together to be vehicles of conceptual change for the good of all people and the planet in general. Even as recently as 10 years ago I was not ready to embrace Facebook. When I first wrote this essay, I couldn't claim to "visit" Facebook daily but that has changed over the years and it has become an important method of keeping in touch with family and some friends not found elsewhere. Facebook is always accessible 24/7 to express condolences when someone who matters to me but lives far, far away has experienced the death of a loved one. Internet connections are available 24/7 when the people rise up as they did during the Arab Spring or the Occupy Movement.

Even when as in Yemen the hope of change seems to have dematerialized from the grasp of the women who supported the overthrow of their dictator – by turning out to protest in the central square. Women organized a field hospital for the wounded. Women supported that change by organizing support in the form of food, medicine and blankets. Women in some places find themselves the chattel of men, living solitary lives in mud huts and abject poverty, even as the dream that change brought in 2012 still burns within them. What happened in Yemen may not have been a revolution in their lives but they see the possibilities for change and they know that a beginning has been made.  They are able to feel that ultimately change could improve their overall quality of life.

Many changes are reactions to events. When I was in high school the airport was a place that a young person could hang out safely and watch the planes land and take off all night long. Since the events of 9/11 in 2001 airport security has been strengthened and only ticketed passengers are allowed to go all the way to the boarding gates. In the last decade group meditations are fueled by the rapidity with which people can gather virtually to send out waves of amplified intentions for a better life. The younger generation growing up now already knows their oneness and interconnectivity as a simple but definite reality of their everyday existence. Person to person we share our truths throughout a global community that has moved beyond borders and time zones to be truly a planetary wholeness.

Many people now write frequent blogs that share "whatever" – their thoughts, their explorations and the circumstances of their everyday life. These have proliferated to the point that if your life is anything like mine there are simply not enough hours in any given day to read all of these that one might wish to read. Underneath it all remains the awareness that the structures are in place to reach out and touch someone we care about at a moment's notice. We are no longer constrained by film and photo developing but the photographs of our life's events or simply those artistic renderings of beauty that our heart's eyes easily appreciate can be shared instantly by email or on Facebook or stored in our computers or printed out as a seasonal greeting card. We are drowning in a proliferation of data to the point that organizing it has become a priority or we can't hope to even find, access or utilize a specific one.

The possibilities for change in our lives are endless and constant. Major weather events come through and completely alter the landscape. Revolutions occur and politics and governance are no longer the same. The sun comes up and goes down and each night the stars come out to dazzle and delight. Yes even though the possibility of change is heartwarming in its hope of improvements there are constants that we can anchor ourselves to in the eye of the storms altering our very lives. These give continuity to our lives and a sense of stability even as we embrace the next good thing or take action against those aspects of life that harm or even displease us.

I form heart-centered beliefs
and these become a part of my
physicality, creating real electrical
and magnetic waves of energy.
There are no barriers to the flow
of ideas nor to the flow of energy
as both impact our interconnected
and virtual lives creating very real
changes for Life's benefit.
In a language that is often beyond
words we speak to the world around
us in images, in beliefs, in our
behaviors, in our actions, and the
world responds with more change.
The perceptions of my experiences,
beliefs and even imagination, can be
readily shared with the whole planet
and the distinctions between the real
and imaginary begin to fade in truth.
Technology makes possible what was
previously unthinkable by allowing us
to be virtually in many places
simultaneously and yet no matter how
far apart in geographical distance
we remain ever more now continuously
connected.
