Chapter 71 (1x21)
Word Count: 693

Cassidy was sat in the living room, reading a book, whenn Elijah, Hayley, Klaus, and Jackson, all looking very disheveled and covered in ash, returned home. Cassidy immediately jumped to her feet.

"What the hell happened?!"

"Just a slight bomb. Nothing too bad." Klaus tried to lighten the mood as Cassidy rushed over to hug each of them, even Jackson, whom she'd grown quite good friends with.

"Why do all of my mates always end up in these stupid, suicidal positions?"

---

Cassidy was with Hayley in the living room, talking, when the pregnant siphon picked up her phone.

"I have, like, six missed calls from Cami. I should call her back. I'll only be two seconds." Cassidy informed and Hayley nodded, but when Cassidy went to stand up and step out of the room, she doubled over in pain and clutched her stomach. Hayley immediately jumped to her feet in worry.

"Babe, what's wrong? What happened?"

Cassidy groaned, the pain her stomach intensifying. Her eyes widened. She could feel it... she knew exactly what was happening.

"No. I'm not ready, not yet! I'm not ready for this."

"Nativitas mane veniat." A spell was heard as Genevieve entered the room with her hand raised. She held her hand out towards Cassidy's abdomen and repeated the spell two more times. The force of the spell forced Cassidy's water to break and the contractions hit her, hard and painful. Cassidy looked up at Genevieve in disbelief.

"Your spells can't force me into labour! I'm not ready yet!"

"You might not be, but we are." Genevieve uttered, just as Monique and Abigail entered the room, chanting a spell to knock Hayley out cold before grabbing a screaming Cassidy.

---

A group of witches, accompanied by Genevieve, dragged a struggling Cassidy by her arms into the church toward the sacristy. Monique and Abigal waited for them in the pews. Cassidy screamed in fright in hopes that someone would hear her, but it seemed like no one did.

"Get her down on the floor!" Genevieve yelled to the witches restraining Cassidy.

"We should take her to the City of the Dead." Monique suggested, but Genevieve shook her head instead.

"We won't make it, the babies are coming now."

"No! It's too soon!" Cassidy shook her head, terrified, as she continued to cry out in pain from her early labour. Genevieve took notice of it.

"Apparently not."

"The plan was to induce her when the sacrifice was ready!" Monique pointed out, grabbing Genevieve's arm.

"We were running out of time. We wouldn't have made it to the sacrifice. It was now or never." Genevieve shot back. "So, the babies are coming, and we'll just have to adapt."

"Let me go!" Cassidy fought against the witches who were pinning her to the church floor. Genevieve knelt near her to speak to her in a soothing tone.

"You need to be calm, Cassidy."

"Why are you doing this to me?" Cassidy stared up at Genevieve, scared out of her mind. Before Genevieve could respond, Monique stepped forward, her expression unreadable.

"To be reborn, you must sacrifice."

"What does that mean, you psychotic little bitch?!" Cassidy snapped, glaring at Monique with pure hatred.

"The ancestors demand an offering in exchange for power." Genevieve informed calmly.

"You and your children will be a fine offering." Monique added with a hidden smugness in her tone that made Cassidy want to rip out her eyeballs.

"No! You will not take my babies, I will kill all of you!"

"No, you won't! And neither will Klaus, or Elijah, or any of your other mates! When your babies are born, you will offer them up to those who came before us." Monique stated. Tears spilled down Cassidy's face as she shook her head no and continued to struggle against the witches' restraints.

"I'm sorry, Cassidy, but this is the way it had to be..." Genevieve whispered with genuine sympathy. Cassidy started to cry out in protest, screaming at the top of her lungs for someone to hear.
