Caroline walked up to Elena "Bonnie told me the plan... find another way Elena, stay away from Kol, I have no idea what kind of effect that him dying would have on my sister and I don't know what she would do to you if you go through with this but I do know that I wouldn't stop her if you kill him. Don't cross that line, Elena, you definitely will not like how it ends, I can guarantee you that. Turn people for Jeremy to kill whatever else you have to do but stay away from my sister's soulmate." then she walks away from the doppelganger hoping that she would listen.

A little while later the younger blonde pulled her phone out and dialed her sister's number, she had to try and warn her sister about what Elena was planning, but it went to voicemail she hung up and tried to call her two more times but it went to voicemail both of those times too, so she left her sister a voicemail "Cassie, call me please, something bad is going to happen, Elena wants to kill Kol to find the cure and I told her to stay away from him but odds are she won't listen... you are the only one that can stop this, so I really hope you hear this before it's too late... I had to try and warn you, god I really hope I'm not too late."

Later that night Kol called Cassie and told her where he parked the car and that he would meet her there no later than 7:30 PM. So Cassie is waiting by the Bugatti for her soulmate.

She looks at her watch and it just hit 7:15 when Cassie saw that she had a voicemail from her little sister and was about to check it when the blonde alien hit her knees as a scream ripped from her throat, a scream that was so loud that it was heard all over town as she feels a burning sensation all over her body. Tears streaming down her face as she fumbles with her phone pulling it out and dialing Klaus' number the message from Caroline is temporarily forgotten, by this point he's trapped in the Gilbert house staring at his brother's body, his phone lights up he answers not even hesitating "Cass?"

"Nik... something's wrong with Kol, I just had this, this overwhelming burning sensation come over me, it hurt so much it felt like I was on fire and now I can't feel him through the bond anymore it just feels empty now" A tear falls down her face "please Nik... tell me that this isn't happening that this isn't real, that it's not what I think it is."

A tear falls down his face as well, hearing the dull lifeless broken tone in his best friend's voice, "I'm so sorry Cass... there was nothing I could do."

The tears fall even faster down her face now "but the ring should have protected him."

He gets a confused look on his face not knowing what she's talking about "what ring Cass?"

"I-It was on his right hand, ring finger, Frigga and I made it on Asgard to protect him, nothing should have been able to hurt him."

He gets as close to his brother's body as he can while being trapped in the living room but he doesn't see a ring then he sees a ring on the floor "the ring does it look like a dragon?"

"Yeah, that's it."

There's a pause "he wasn't wearing it, Cass... It's on the floor."

There's a pause on Cassie's end this time "where are you? I need to see it, to see him for myself"

Klaus sighs "Cass you really don't need to see this."

He's trying to protect her from seeing her soulmate like that "Nik tell me where you are I need to see him."
