The twins are leaving today and Grayson has yet to say goodbye. I know we aren't in a relationship, but you'd think he would still say goodbye. Emercyn is about to go pick them up and take them to the airport.
All morning Em has been begging me to ride with her. I just don't think I have it in me to sit in that car with Grayson and not shout at him for not saying anything about leaving. It really is none of my business anymore, but for how long we were together, you'd think I deserved a goodbye.
"Hayden, you are coming." Emercyn says, grabbing my wrist and trying to pull me out of my room.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"GIRLS!" My Uncle Mark screams from downstairs. "SHUT UP!" He adds. We both giggle before she glare at me and I at her.
"You'll regret it if you don't." She tells me.
"Em-"
"You can even sit in the front." She says. I roll my eyes at her. "And if Ethan tries to drag you out of the seat, I'll yell at him and slap him for you." She smiles. I couldn't not smile back.
"Fine." I groan and grab my shoes and phone.
Not even five minutes later were we at the twins house. Emercyn went in to get them and they put their things in the back. I'm more than shocked when Ethan didn't fight for the front seat but I assume Em said something to him.
"Hey, H." Ethan says.
"Hi." I whisper.
The car ride was silent. So silent I was scared to cough. It was awkward and I knew I shouldn't have came.

When we get to the airport, Emercyn parks the car and gets out with them. I debate whether or not to get out and say goodbye but he was the one who wasn't gonna tell
me he was leaving so I wont.
I sink into my seat and bring my knees to my chest, resting my head on my knees as I wait for Emercyn. I know she is saying her goodbyes and kissing on her boy.
I jump when the passenger door opens. I hold my chest as I look and I'm quite shocked when I see Grayson standing their. His skateboard in on hand, his suitcase in the other, and a carry on on his back.
"I'm sorry." He whispers, letting go of the suitcase and pulling me into his chest. I tense up and I can tell her noticed.
"You know I love you." He says.
"You weren't even going to say goodbye." I point out. He looks down, guilty and ashamed in himself.
"I know and I'm a stupid asshole for that." He says.
"At least you know... but I love you too. Have fun in LA." I give him a weak smile before he takes a few steps back and I shut the door in his face.
A seconds later there is a knock on the window and I want to yell at him. I look up and roll down the window but it's Ethan.
"You weren't even going to say goodbye? How rude." He fake pouts.
"My bad." I joke. "Your brother put me in a mood." I add.
"I know. Hey listen to me though, no matter what happens between the two of you, just know he does love and care for you a lot an I'd beat his ass if he ever did you wrong. He doesn't mean to intentionally hurt you... he handles things how he thinks is the best in the moment... not how it will effect the future." He grabs my hand and we do a little handshake as he tells me this.
"I know. Thanks Ethan."
"Of course. See you later!" He says, patting door and stepping away, waving as Emercyn gets in the car.
We wave to them before Emercyn drives off. I could feel her taking glances at me every so ofthen.
"Can you stop staring at me?" I ask her. She looks ahead and doesn't say anything.
He said he was sorry but is he really? He says he loves but I can't help but question. Ethan says he does so he does right? God I hate myself for over thinking everything but when you've been hurt more than once... it just happens.
I couldn't help but wonder if Emercyn would ever move out there with them... if so, I'd be here in Jersey by myself. I love Aunt Macy and Uncle Mark and I wouldn't mind living with just them, but it wouldn't be the same without Em. If she did, I'd probably move back to Oklahoma. Part of me feels like at this point I should before Emercyn leaves me.
"Would you move out to LA if they offered you to?" I ask Em.
"No, because you're living with me." She answers honestly like she does with everything. My favorite part about her.
"So if I wasn't, then you would?"
"Yes, I don't want to leave you behind... Why are you asking me
this?" She questions, looking at me before I point to the road, making her face it.
"I'm just curious." I shrug.
When we get back to the house we go our separate ways and I go up to my room. I've been spending a lot of extra time in here lately. I pull out my laptop and look at how much tickets would be to fly back to Tulsa. I then grab my phone and text me mom.
Me- mom... i think i'm ready to come home...
birthgiver- really? i never thought you'd want to leave NJ! when are you wanting to come back?
Me- soon. How soon do you think I could?
birthgiver- i'll talk to you dad. Have you told your aunt?
me- no.. but I'm about to.
I lay my phone on my bed and go to Em's room. I ask her to follow me downstairs and she does. We walk into the living room where my uncle is watching tv and my aunt is playing a casino game on her iPhone.
"I have something I need to tell you guys." I say after telling Emercyn to sit on the couch with them.
The three of them exchange looks between them and I could tell they are getting curious. I feel bad because they have done so so much for me.
"I- I want to move back to Tulsa... and I feel terrible because you guys have done so much for me the past year and I don't want you to hate me for leaving." I say it really fast, scared that I wouldn't be able to at all.
"Honey, we could never hate you." My Uncle Mark says.
"If that is what you want Hayden, then that's what you want and we can't stop you. I'm sure your mom is thrilled with this news considering how much she misses you." My Aunt Macy tells me, putting her phone on her lap.
Emercyn just stares at me. She doesn't say anything before getting up and going upstairs. I look at my aunt and uncle and they give me weak smiles. I excuse myself before running up the stairs and going to Emercyn's room. It's locked when I try
to get in.
"Go away." She says.
"Talk to me."
"No." She says.
"Let me explain to you why i want to move back!" I tell her. She opens the door and just stands there, not letting me in but she stands there and listens.
"Because you and Grayson broke up and you run away from all of your problems. Grayson moved away so why should you? He's not here so stay!" She says. I can tell she isn't too happy with my decision.
"That is not why." I say. "Yes I ran from my problem with Cole because he did me terrible. I'm not running from Grayson. I'm not running from anyone I just want to go back and I know that I am holding you back from LA." I tell her.
"That's why you asked me in the car?" She asks and I nod my head.
"I heard Ethan ask you to move to LA with him and you said no because of me. Then when I asked you, your answer was the same. It all comes down to me and I don't want to keep you from doing that. So that is why." I explain. She doesn't say anything. She looks rather shocked.
I walk away and into my room, shutting my door and grabbing my
phone to text my mom.
me- they know.
birthgiver- okay. How about you head home here in about three days.. i'll call Macy and give her the details.
I set my phone aside and look around the room. I'm really doing this.
