Shifting Sands

The shifting sands move the desert throughout the flow of time
Revealing hidden treasures to the naked eye, the sun shines on them
A city, long forgotten about, rises part-time
As the wind blows, it buries it, and then some

Sandstorms hit the land all day and night
Not a single creature can withstand the forces
...And yet, I go to the mythical delight
Hoping the sand doesn't change courses

Traveling by night seems to be the right thing to do
The eye doesn't get blinded by easy riches scattered in the dunes
Trying to pick them up only results in you being swallowed in just a few
Time passes only in moons

Inside a steam-powered machine, I embark on this journey of timeless elapse
Only a few days in, I think, at any rate, I begin to see water and a sweet breeze
Fake salvation from collapse
The white sun's light won't kill me with freeze

In my little room of bronze, I prepare for the arrival
Counting the grains of sand stuck in my glasses, I see history
I must make it to the city that none outrival
For her illness shall not remain a mystery

She is waiting for me back home. Metal stung
A virus I implanted in her with joy, now erases her life by the minute
Like the shifting sands speak to me in sings unsung
Soleil's song shall stay me en route
