Chapter 14:
Counterclaim the Stand

"Good morning Mr. President, ano po masasabi mo sa oposisyon ng pangalawang pangulo?" A reporter from ABS-CBN asked during the press briefing in Malacanang.

"Nasa kanya naman yun tutal may sarili siyang pag-iisip," Digong answered in a snap without hesitation.

"Sir paano naman yung pambabatikos ni vice president Leni about the drug on war and extra-judicial killing that is against humanitarian law?" Another reporter inquired.

Flashes of cameras in each corner can't be avoided, all angles were surely captured... Phones, recorders and notes used by journalists to jot down every word the president say.

"Ang mga namatay ay proven na inclined sa drugs na lumalaganap, nanlaban sila laban sa pulisya kung gayon ang kanilang sinapit. The police are only doing their work so do I." he noted and reassure that there wasn't an issue about it.

"Sir masasabi mo po kay ma'am Leni sa pagbabatikos sa pamumuno mo?"

"Ako ang bahala sa trabaho ko, siya man ang bahala sa trabaho niya walang paki-alaman sapagkat ako ang presidente, bide-president lang siya." He answered insisting that Leni should just do her work and not interfere with his.

"Galit po ba kayo kay ma'am Leni?"

"Ano po ang mangyayari kung siya ang leader ng oposisyon?"

"Bakit po wala siyang position sa gabinete?"

"Ano na po ba ang nangyayari ngayon?"

Questions just keep coming from the blunt mouth of the reporters from different networks unfortunately Digong can only answer few of them before his next appointment.

Digong walked away from the podium as series of persistent journalists followed him but they were block on the way.

Spokeperson Salvador Panelo took and answer the other questions after Digong left making the media and its new scope a hot content for the news.

Afternoon came Digong was busy reviewing many paper piled on his desk arranged from the most to least important files.

A knock was heard made by a person standing outside his door, "Sir, pasok po ako..." it was a feminine voice that speaks for he immediately recognised it.

"Ma'am, good afternoon po--"he unsurely greeted while taking a glance on his watch which was already 6'o clock in the evening,"I mean good evening," he corrected himself while shyly smiling.

"Sir gina-gabi ka na niyan, tulungan na kita," Leni suggested as she took some files and starts reading it.

It was such an awkward moment for the two as it had been an hour that both was so silent, no one was taking the initiative to talk.

"Matanong ko nga 'to,"Leni told herself before talking.

"Sir," Leni called him

"Yes ma'am?" Digong replied without looking.

"Kailan ang exact date ng niligawan mo si mama at mga anak ko?" she asked forwardly without halting herself as for curiosity had indeed taken over her mind.
