Synopsis:

While preparing to travel, he was suddenly brought from modern times to the beast world.

Ding Xiao, who has a calm mind, accidentally acquired a special pair of eyes in the beast world. But his eyes can't be used to see ghosts, but to identify food! Regardless if it was running on the ground, floating on the water, flying on the sky, grass, flowers, trees and even stones, as long as he look at it, he can recognize if it can be eaten or not.

What can he do if he can't remember that much?!

With his excellent sketching skills, he will record every cuisine of the world. Along with him all the way is his black-haired tiger. This is a story of a black tiger carrying his small partner to eat all the way...

Impressions: This is for foodies out there, think Transmigrator Meets Reincarnator, or I am a Chef in Modern Era, but beast world setting. (But our MC doesn't open a restaurant.) Most of the chapter titles are food though.

First chapter is our MC's sad life, it helps explains his actions later on. His dad is gay and raises him alone, laters MC's teacher has relations with his Dad, but they separated cos the man married someone else. MC's dad commits suicide, slag man cries at his funeral, MC hits him with a brick (Yay!) then MC falls into depression, sees a psychiatrist, slowly recovers and decides to travel around the world... got into an accident and transmigrates. 

MC lives in the wild but of course, he's not completely equip so he got sick, a sub-beastman finds him. This sub-beast looks exactly like his dead Dad so sick MC mistook him for his dad and thought he was just dreaming. Then he wakes up and sees that this is for real. His Dad look-a-like decides to adopt him. In the beast world, those below 30 years old are still cubs (cos they can live up to 500 years old) so our 25+ MC is still a cub in their eyes. Dad's partner is also the slag man's look-a-like so MC has reservations at him at first but he slowly lowers his guard after he sees that he really cares for Dad. So MC becomes their child.

World setting is Male, can turn into beast. Females can give birth and Sub-beast can't turn into beast and can't give birth (MC falls into this category). MC doesn't introduce life changing things to the tribe. It's mostly just different way of cooking or finding ingredients that the tribe has neglected cos they didn't know that it can be eaten. Anyways, their tribe isn't so primitive that they live in caves. They know how to build houses, have weapons, pottery etc. MC meets ML early on, and ML quickly starts pursuing MC (but MC didn't know that), it's just that when everything seem like a done deal (MC and ML's parents approve, MC's friends know, EVERYONE in their village knows) that MC noticed and accepted ML. Then our MC finds a stone that he think smells fragrant...and EATS it. Laters, he gets his magical eye that can see if something can be eaten or not. It's side effects, health benefits etc. MC decides to travel around with ML and complete a Food Record where recipes and edible ingredients are written. While traveling, they came across some rumors of dragons and MC guessed that they still exists but just hiding for some reason... Laters, they found a way to bait a real dragon then made a deal to get a dragon fruit. This will allow sub-beastmen to have babies but only if they have dragon blood. MC has a little bit cos Chinese people are the ancestors of dragons or something so its effective for MC. Then MC gave birth to twins but one was a male beast that had tiger form and the other was a sub beastman so the dragons didn't take them (If it was a dragon, they would've to stay with the other dragons.) Good thing ML's genes are strong! Lol. Then more daily life of their family~~

Extras is MC & ML going back to the 'past' / MC's world. MC settled everything (his house, properties etc.) and he wanted to take his Father's ashes with him in the beast world. He meets his cousin and his psychiatrist (they became a couple!!) and the slag man. Slag man actually divorced his wife right after MC's dad died and he was the one that was paying MC's phone bill (I think 5 years passed since his disappearance?) and cleaning his house. In the end, he can't forgive slag man but he knows that his Dad really loved him so he gave his Dad's ashes to him. Then they went shopping then went back to the Beast World.

The other extras is MC's sub-beast son who inherited his magic eyes, but he can see diseases and how to treat them instead of food. And how he found his own partner. Just continuation of MC's happy family life~~

I like this, although it was pretty long. The food stuff was interesting but it kinda reminded me of JAP isekai novels where the MC would make food from otherworld ingredients. Lol. MC & ML gets together naturally and I like their way of getting along. ML's a bit of a black belly~~~

Actually, most of the novel was spent on MC's 'cub' years. So aside from the food, this really focuses more on MC's family life. He is very filial to his new Dads, although his Dad look-a-like is still his favorite more than the slag-man's look-a-like. ML lived with them for awhile cos MC didn't want to move out~~ As for the dragon plot twist, well, they had to find some way to make MC mpreg so it was okay... It would've been better if it worked for other sub-beastman too, just saying... ^_^

If you like slice of life food porn then this is for you~~ Our beast world is very peaceful, no wars, drama or dogblood~~~

Actually, before this, I was reading another Beast world novel, but I couldn't find the raws for the locked chapters :( It was Transmigrated to the Beast Life. (穿越兽世生存纪 作者：泡泡灯) MC escaped from a small tribe where females are assigned to partners regardless of their will. ML rescues him and offers to be his guardian. ML was a hybrid (eagle/lion) so he thought that MC wouldn't want to be with him. ML's tribe is pretty powerful, it just got to the part where they had to move cos the volcano near their territory erupted. I guess, they're gonna go through hardships from now on~~~ Will not give up searching for raws!! Someday, am gonna read this!!!
