Impressions: Was reading Boyfriends Always Turned out to Be a Horror Movie Boss but I only finished the first Arc before I put it on-hold (c38). Saw this on an MTL reco list on NU~~ Says that its fairly easy to MTL so decided to give it a try~~

This is surprisingly a good read! How to say it... it doesn't follow the routine of rebirth MCs. There's no revenge or faceslapping... The scum in the previous life isn't so scum in this life. Even the Shadow devil that tortured MC was shown in a different way.

MC is a seal cultivator... I guess, he's kind of a talisman master??? Anyway, seal cultivators has no fighting force so they must attached themselves to a warrior that can protect them. For MC, this was his senior brother/shixiong. So they went through so many life and death together with shixiong protecting MC until MC was kidnapped by the Shadow Devil. Shadow devil wants MC to join him and imprisoned and tortured him by showing his shixiong's life outside. Shixiong didn't try to rescue him but instead got together with a girl and on their wedding night, he told girl that the reason why he didn't abandon MC was because he was scared that MC would find a more powerful warrior and revenge on him. MC loses hope and becomes enlightened, he didn't get angry with scum shixiong but instead realized the crux of the problem, which is he was too weak. He shouldn't have relied on another person for protection. Who says that seal cultivators can only be dependent on others? Due to enlightenment, he experienced a breakthrough on his cultivation. However, his body has been tortured for 3 mos. and he is still being surpressed so I guess his breakthrough failed and he died... Then he rebirth.

Rebirth MC saves his father from being killed. When shixiong tried to recruit him like in the last life, he brushed it off. He decided not to have any entanglements with him on this life. Then he meets ML. ML is a mortal like him, he is a famous Madonna/Holy Father at their place XD XD XD MC's father owes him a huge debt and ML also actively helps MC because... he's a good person XD XD Laters, MC starts to cultivate again and leaves their town (?) to go to a mountain where cultivators gather. After making some cash/silver, he went back to their town to pay ML. He finds that ML is being bullied at his own house, he wants to be a court official to help people but his parents won't let him take the exam. MC talks to him and tells him that even if he becomes an official, its not guaranteed that he'll be able to help many people cos they're just gonna argue at the court. So ML thinks of becoming Emperor. Then he thinks that in the face of god-like cultivators, even an Emperor cannot protect the people, just help clean up the mess from their fight. So he decides to be a strong cultivator!! ML joins MC and they leave their town.
