NCT's Kim Lachlan was allegedly offered a solo contract by his management team. With the newfound popularity for one of the 22nd boys, Chaehyun has had two solo, self-produced albums which have now done exceptionally well. With him being in a number of scandals this year alone along with all of his misfortune, it seems to have brought him a lot of attention and SM seem to have taken the popularity well and have reportedly offered a solo contract to Lachlan - which would mean him leaving NCT altogether.
The news got out after Chaehyun was reportedly seen leaving the SM building looking mildly distressed. Sources close to SM claim that Lachlan flat out denied the chance of a completely solo career and claimed that he would much rather stay within the group. It was stated that SM pushed multiple times, even going as far as stating that he 'would get much more success if he went solo and could possibly be the next big thing', to which Chaehyun once again declined.
It's said that SM was feeling slightly deflated after the rejection but chose to accept that Lachlan didn't want to be a solo artist just yet. Though, they did promise that if he ever wanted it, the offer would always be on the table. After news broke out of the meeting between Lachlan and his management, fans took to Twitter to express their opinions on the entire situation.

'Okay, I can kind of understand why SM would offer Chaehyun a solo contract because he has been extremely popular lately, but the fact that they tried to push and pry at him to take their offer says a lot. He clearly doesn't want to and they aren't doing it for him or his 'possible success' they're doing it for their own gain. Good on Chae baby for sticking with the boys!'
'Okay, Chaehyun being a soloist isn't a bad idea at all and I don't mind that he has been offered a solo contract if anything I'm proud but the thing that bothers me is that they tried to claim that he would get more success if he went solo. Like what is that even supposed to mean to the other boys???'

He has been through so much, he needs them just as much as they need him. He is being smart and those of you complaining that he should have gone solo, take his mental health in mind.
