"So you got what you always wanted
So you got your dream come true
Good for you..."

"Patton?"

It was the middle of the night, around two a.m., when Patton heard a few soft knocks on his door. He recognized the way it sounded, and knew it was a signal Virgil was there before he even said anything. He slid out of bed, padding over to the door and opening it. He tiredly smiled at the anxious side in front of him.

"Hey, kiddo? What's up?"

"I...I need to talk with you." He was fidgeting with the strings of his hoodie, with one hand, the other shoved down into his pocket to fidget with the fidget cube Patton had given him.

"Okay!" Patton kept his warm smile and stepped away to welcome him in. He closed the door behind Virgil and walked over so they were sitting down across from each other on the messy bed, Virgil crossed-leg while Patton had his knees pulled to his chest and hugged a stuffed animal happily. "The floor is yours! Well, the bed, or the air." Patton giggled softly at his own words and adorably awkward speech.

"Right..." Virgil replied, quietly. "So um...Y'know how you kind of have the whole...'my kiddo! Precious little thing that's cute and need protected' shtick with me, right?"

"Totally, kiddo!"

"...can you maybe...sorta...stop that?"

Patton's face shifted from upbeat to confused. "What do you mean?"

Cursing under his breath, Virgil stood. "I don't think I can do this."

"Wait, please! Can we just talk for a moment? I just need to know so I can make you happy and not upset, kid—Virgil."

The anxious side glanced back at him, look cold. Patton hadn't seen this look since Virgil had first been introduced in videos, or when he looked at Roman occasionally, though he deserved it those times. "I just need you to stop treating me like I'm a little kid, okay?" He snapped a bit. "I'm an adult man, the same age as you. I don't want to be patronized. You all accepted me, and that's all I need now. I don't need all this other bull crap now that I'm a light side on good terms with everyone and not as...sad anymore."

Patton looked taken aback, staring at Virgil and holding back tears that were starting to well up in his eyes. This didn't sound like the Virgil they'd all come to know and love. It sounded like someone trying to be like him.

But then again, it didn't seem Patton knew Virgil at all now.

Where was the lost side who just wanted to be accepted and appreciated, not tossed aside and mistreated just for his title, being looked at as if he were a stone cold villain?

"O-O-Okay, Virgil." Patton forced a smile like he usually did. Some other emotions were bursting out of him though, ones he didn't want to release but came out anyhow. "I'll shut my mouth and I'll let you go. Is that good for you?" He felt so used now, like an idiot who'd been led along by a believable actor.

For a moment, it seemed everything around them just stopped. Virgil's eyes seemed to flash for a moment, his left eye looking a bit off, though Patton seemed to just blame that on the tears and overall emotions starting to cloud his vision.

"...All I need is some time to think."

"That's fine! That's fine! I'll just sit back while you run the show." Patton's words were more hostile, darker emotions showing through even more. He was still forcing a smile though.

The eye of the side in front of Patton seemed to flash again as he mumbled, "There's all these words that I can't take back..." He turned towards the door and ran out, muttering under his breath. "I've got to find a way to stop it, stop it...Just let me out!"

The moral side stood there for a moment, conflicted. He then collapsed back on his bed, hugging a pillow as he sobbed. He still felt used, like he was just a little piece in some game. He'd given his heart out only to have it smashed with just a few words.

Patton's broken voice turned cold as he said to his empty room, "So you got what you always wanted...Good for you."

Let's unpack this, shall we?

This is hinting at a dark side, yes. Maybe it's Deceit, maybe it's another of my own theories and ideas of the other dark sides...

It's also very short, I'm sorry!!

I wanted to explore and of course make some angst out of that one part in a more recent video where Virgil mentions being patronized and all by Patton. I just kinda cranked that angst and emotion notch up more and this was the product! Hopefully you guys liked it and please tell me if you would be interested in more parts!!
