It was a Friday night and the coffee shop in Roman's town was packed. A local cover band was playing on the little stage set in the center of the shop, and people claimed every seat in the place.

Roman finished his coffee, and headed to the counter for a refill. As he approached the diner-style counter, he seen a boy his age sitting in the seat he was at five minutes earlier, which he had abandoned so he could stand closer to the stage.

"Excuse me, but I think you've got my chair," Roman said to the boy, meaning to tease him. The boy turned, and Roman's breath caught for a moment, realizing he had seen this boy around his school before. Now that he thought about it, Roman recognized this boy as one of the theater techs. Roman had seen the sets he had painted for the plays he was often in, and they always left him in awe.

"Oh, sorry," Virgil said, starting to get up.

"No!" Roman said suddenly, then blushed. Why was he suddenly so nervous around this boy? "I mean, it's fine." He seen the person next to the boy get up, and Roman instead took their seat.

"I'm Roman," he said.

"Virgil," the boy replied.

"Hello, Virgil," Roman said with a smile. "Could I drink you a buy?"

Virgil frowned in confusion, and after moment, Roman realized his mistake, and his blush grew deeper. "I mean, could I buy you a drink? You seem to be finished with that one." He pointed to the empty mug, and Virgil glanced down into it.

"Uh, sure," Virgil replied. He told him what he wanted, and Roman bought two, one for Virgil, and one for himself.

"Do you remember what this band is called?" Virgil asked, taking a sip of his coffee.

"No, I don't know the name of the band, but they're good," Roman said awkwardly, hiding his face by tilting his head down and looking into his drink.

The two sat in silence for a few minutes, and the band went into another song, this one slow. Roman saw Virgil's eyes light up as he heard the opening beats, and Roman smiled a bit before blurting, "W-would you like to dance?"

Virgil glanced at all the couples who had gotten up, swaying to the beat and dancing slowly. He looked back at Roman, who was adorably flushed with embarrassment. He was . . . interesting to see the other like this. Roman, who was normally so confident, especially with theater and flirting, was rendered a blushing mess, and Virgil realized with a start that he had caused Roman to act like this. The thought made him smile, and reached a hand out to Roman, who was trying to hide his face.

"Yes," Virgil answered, and led him to the makeshift dance floor. He wrapped his arms around Roman's neck, and Roman's came around his waist, holding him closely but not invading his space too much. They swayed with the other couples, and Virgil stared up at Roman, watching his body seem to relax. He smiled down at Virgil, and he felt his confidence start to come to him once more. He twirled Virgil around, causing the other to let out a light laugh as he was returned to Roman's arms.

The song ended a minute later, and Roman led Virgil back to their chairs. The shop would be closing in an hour, and the band started to play it's final song.

The later exchanged numbers and talked until the manager of the shop announced it was closing time. They walked outside, and walked down the street tot he parking lot. They held hands, and Roman had a goofy smile on his face, caught in the spell Virgil didn't know he was casting.

"We should do this again sometime," said Roman as they neared Virgil's car.

"How about Wednesday?" Virgil asked bravely.

Roman grinned. "Sounds perfect."

Virgil opened his car door, though he still held Roman's hand. He didn't want to let go just yet, but he knew he needed to head back home. Roman hesitated for a moment before leaning down and giving Virgil a soft kiss on the cheek.

"Goodnight, Virgil," he said, letting go of his hand with a smile.

Virgil smiled back, getting into his car and closing the door. He watched Roman turn and start towards his own car, and Virgil pulled out of the parking lot, allowing himself to grin wide as he drove back home.

The idea for this first came from the line "Can I drink you a buy?" and eventually lead to this little oneshot. It's not my best, but I've been wanting to use this song for a while. And yes, George Strait, Roman and Virgil are not straight, puns!

Enjoy, ~Kirs
