No ship

Virgil looked out his window, his body curled up as he sat on his window seat in his room.

The clouds in the sky were a stormy dark gray, and Virgil could hear a faint rumble of thunder. It had been like this all day, extremely overcast, yet it had not rained a single drop.

Virgil leaned his head against the glass, still waiting for the rain to come.

Today had not been one of his best. Sure, he was Anxiety, so he clearly wasn't sunny and happy most days like his fellow side Patton, but today had been particularly worse compared to the others. Worrying and worrying.

Thomas had been working hard day and night for his fans, and Virgil, believe it or not, had been helping the other sides with scripts and ideas. It was a part of his own resolution for the new year. He had decided he would try to help more, and be a bit kinder to the other sides. But acting on this resolution had been hard-work and very stressful. He just wanted a break. Now he knew how the others, especially Roman, felt.

All he wanted now was to see the rain, watch streams of water fall from the sky. He wanted to hear the soft, steady sound as the rain came down.

A minute later, it seemed his wishes had finally been answered. He watched as tiny droplets of rain landed on his window, shining like specks of silver glitter.

In a matter of seconds, his window was covered. Virgil uncurled himself and opened the window a bit, enough to hear the rain louder and stick his hand out. He had taken the screen off long ago for this purpose, and he felt the cool rain hit his skin.

He leaned his head against the glass once more, letting the steady sound of the pouring rain calm him. He felt his shoulders relax, and his body was no longer as tense as it had been before.

Thunder rumbled like a drum in the distance, and Virgil closed his eyes, retracting his hand from outside the window, curling up once more and falling into a rare, calm sleep.

Can I just say how much I love rain? Like Virgil, I love the soft, steady sound and I like to watch it.

This oneshot is also me trying to practice a bit of visualization, and just challenging myself a bit with writing about a topic some people would find simple or mundane.

Enjoy, ~Kirs.
