Chapter 44: Bayley (AU)

I sing (to be sung to the tune of "I Won't Say I'm In Love" from Hercules):

If there's a prize for rotten judgement,
I guess I've already won that.
No man is worth the aggravation,
That's ancient history, been there, done that.

Sasha begins to sing:

Who do you think you're kidding?
He means everything to you!
Try to keep it hidden,
Girl, I can see right through you.
Hun, you can't conceal it,
I know how you're feeling.
Who you're thinking of!

I shake my head.

No chance!
No way!
I won't say it, no no!
(You swoon, you sigh, why deny it? Uh oh)
It's too cliche!
I won't say I'm in love.
I thought my heart had learned its lesson,
It feels so good when you start out.
My head is screaming, "Get a grip, girl!"
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out.

Sasha face-palms herself.

Girl, you can't deny it,
Who you are is how you're feeling.
Bayley, I'm not buying,
Hun, I saw you hit the ceiling.
Face it like a grown-up!
When you gonna own up that you

I stare coldly into her eyes.

No chance!
No way!
I won't say it, no no!
(Give up, give in, check the grin, you're in love)
This scene won't play,
I won't say I'm in love!
(You're doing flips, read my lips, you're in love!)
You're way off base,
I won't say it!
Get off my case,
I won't say it!
(Girl don't be proud, it's okay you're in love)

The bell rings and Sasha leaves, leaving me sitting there. Finn smiles at me and exits.

At least, out loud,
I won't say I'm in love.

Recess comes all too quickly and I'm approached by Finn.

"Hey Bayley," he says.

"Hi Finn," I say, smiling.

"I was maybe wondering if you would like to go out with me today?"

I smile a humongous smile.

"Of course!"

He smiles. "Okay, I'll pick you up at, say, around 6?"

I nod and he walks away, cheering.

At 6, I hear a loud noise. I walk outside to find a helicopter in my front yard! Finn walks up to me, takes my hand, gives me a headset, and we get into the helicopter.

Once we are up, I can see everything. The trees, the hills, the pond, everything.

Finn starts to sing (to be sung to the tune of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin because I'm obsessed still):

I can show you the world,
Shining, shimmering, splendid.
Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes,
Take you wonder by wonder.
Over, sideways and under on a magic carpet ride.
A whole new world!
A new fantastic point of view.
No one to tell us no, or where to go, or say we're only dreaming.

I smile and sing:

A dazzling place I never knew.
But when I'm way up here, it's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with you.

Unbelievable sights,
Indescribable feeling.
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling through an endless diamond sky.

(Don't you dare close your eyes)
A hundred thousand things to see.
(Hold you breath, it gets better)
I'm like a shooting star, I've come so far.
I can't go back to where I used to be.

Every turn a surprise
(With new horizons to pursue)
Every moment red letter.

Finn looks at me and smiles.

A thrilling chase.

Now it's my turn to smile at him.

A wondrous place.

After this, we land right back on my front yard.

"Goodnight Finn," I say.

"Goodnight Bayley," he says.

He kisses me goodnight. I smile and walk back inside.

Before I go to sleep, I smile, know today has been amazing.
