Cali's POV

A whole three hours had passed after Sam left before he texted me wanting talk.

I opened the door letting him inside wearing my pajamas ready for bed.

"Hey." I forced a smile.

"Don't do that." He looked down at me.

"Do what?" I asked.

"Fake a smile." He pushed hair behind my ear.

"Sorry." I looked down.

"And stop apologizing!" He raised his voice.

I opened my mouth to say sorry but closed it before the words came out.

"You did nothing wrong to be sorry for." He lightly laughed.

I didn't respond I just stood there looking at the floor. Sam hugged me giving me comfort like never before.

"I'm not good for you Cali." He whispered in my ear.

"So what." I defended gripping his torso tighter.

"I don't want to hurt you." He held my head stroking my hair.

"At this point it wouldn't matter, I'm basically numb when it comes to love." I tried to lighten the mood.

"I'm serious." He kissed my forehead.

"I understand." I nodded feeling my heart drop.

"I'll always be here." He held up my chin.

"I know." I lowly spoke.

"I should get going." He looked down putting his hands in his pockets.

"Yeah." I agreed following him to the door.

"I'll see you later." He stepped out onto the porch.

"Bye." I folded my arms over my chest.

"Sam wait!" I called.

"Yeah?" He looked back.

"No more Lion King?" I bit my finger nail.

"Your something else Hastings." He laughed walking away.

I watched him follow the driveway all the way to the end and then peel off to the right reaching the corner. I turned around walking back inside closing the door behind me going upstairs.

Jacks POV

Watching Sam and Cali kiss was the hardest thing I've had to sit through, I remember like one scene from the movie I was so focused on them. My best friend, all over Cali. I cringed at the thought of them together it made me nauseous.

"Jack.." Emily looked over at me.

"What?" I focused in.

"What's up with you?" She turned on her blinker.

"Nothing." I shook my head.

"Don't lie to me. I've known you since fifth grade." She smiled taking a left.

"It's just Cali.." I gave in.

"What about her?" Emily raised her eyebrow.

"I like her, I really do. And just seeing them cheer Sam on to kiss her really made me upset. I've never felt this way." I played with the coin in my hand.

"Sounds like your in love." Emily grinned pulling up to my house.

"No. Never." I fumbled the coin putting it back down.
