“Stop looking at me” I say quietly and I look out the window.

“Jess, look at me, please” Jack pleads and I turn my head towards him

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for yelling at you, I’m sorry for telling you to leave, I’m sorry for everything. Last night was a mistake; it killed me watching you walk out of my apartment and life like that. But, it is what is best for you. You said it yourself, you’re a teenager, and you need to live life, make mistakes, and date different g-guys” Jack says and his fists begin turning white from him clenching the table so hard, the look on his face contains hurt, guilt and love? All wrapped up in one. Wait a minute, love? No it can’t be, there is no way he loves me of all people. He can have anyone he wants, why me?

I finish basically pouring my soul out to her and I look up into her eyes and all I see is confusion embedded in her eyes.

“Jess? Jess, are you listening?” I ask her waving a hand in front of her face. Oh God, am I really that boring?

“Jess!” I say a little impatiently and her eyes snap towards me.

“WHAT!” She exclaims “Mr. Morris, I don’t know about you but I have a life outside of school, so can I please leave now” She asks and I literally feel my heart snap in two.

“Uh yeah sure, go ahead” I say a little uneasy. I watch her. I watch her get up and walk out of my classroom, out of my life for the second time in less than 24 hours. I watch her walk out with that painted on face that says she is okay.

I walk out of his classroom with a plastered smile on my face. When in reality, my heart is broken. You did the right thing, is what I keep telling myself. He would have lost his job; you would have ruined his life! Your life was perfectly fine without him in it, so just forget him.

I walk outside, the sun shining and the wind blowing my hair everywhere. I pull out my IPod and I start listening to my music. “Marry You” By Bruno Mars starts playing and I laugh at the irony. I get home and I change into a pair of navy blue running shorts and a gray soccer t-shirt with a pair of pink and black Nikes.

“Bye Ma, I’m going for a run at the reservoir!” I yell and I get in my car and drive. I get there, park my car and start stretching out on a small grassy area. From the corner of my eye I see that oh so familiar black Camaro pull into the far side of the parking lot. “You have got to be kidding me!” I say to myself and I shake it off and begin jogging around the 5 mile trail. I get about halfway done and I see him.

I can’t help but stare at his black basketball shorts, black and blue Nikes and his shirtless torso. This guy just gets better and better every damn day doesn’t he! I say to myself.

I look around for a way to get out of sight, I see this unpaved path and I begin running down it. It leads to a small abandoned dock. I walk over to it and I climb up and walk to the edge and I sit down, my feet hanging over, just inches above the water. I look out at the sun beginning to set and I lean back on my hands and I hear someone cough.

“Excuse me, but this is my ‘get-a-way’ spot.” That deep, alluring voice says. I laugh a dry humorless laugh.

“Well tough, this is my new spot” I say, not even turning around, not trusting myself knowing he is shirtless. I feel the dock move a little as he sits down next to me.

“Are you following me?” I ask him and he laughs.

“Me following you? Uh no not exactly.” Jack says

“Then why are you here?”

“Same reason as you. Letting off some steam and getting a good workout and view at the same time” He says and he looks down at me.

“Who says I was letting off steam?” I ask now looking down at my swinging legs over the water.

“Oh I just had a hunch” Jack says laughing a little. “Ya know, between school and our little predicament, I just figured.”

“Mr. Morris, I can’t do this anymore.” I say looking up at him

“First of all, call me Jack. Mr. Morris makes me sound old. And secondly, just give me a second chance! I know I can do better.”

Well am I getting any better at this? I know it's like every chapter there's a new problem with them, but hopefully that will change(;
