Chapter 23       Headaches. Candy. Lovers

Jack P.O.V.

The class goes on and on and on. I’m sitting at my desk, bored as hell. Why did I become a teacher again? Oh yeah, it my true calling or some shit or another. The bell rings and I jump a little; startled. I see Jess packing up her stuff and she gets up and walks out the door with Liv and Mark.

“Jess? Are you forgetting something?”

“Oh uh yeah, sorry guys. I’ll see you later.”

She walks back in and sits down at her desk and she pulls out the book I let her borrow.

“Somebody call the Press, Jess Hogan is actually reading!” I exclaim and she looks up at me and smiles slightly.

“Very funny”

I smile and get up. I walk back to her desk, and sit in the chair in front of her and I fold my arms on her desk. “What’s up?”

“Nothing really. Just getting some homework done. Why?”

“That’s not what I meant, Jess.”

“Than what did you mean?”

“I meant, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong.”

“Jess, come on. I can read you like a book.”

“It’s nothing, my head just hurts”

I nod and get up, walking over to my desk. I take out the prescription pills my dad gave her and I walk over setting hem down with my bottle of water.

“You left those in my car”

“Thanks”

“No problem. Are you sure that’s the only thing bothering you?”

She looks up at me with those gorgeous hazel eyes and nods “I’m sure”

I nod and walk over to my desk, packing up my stuff “Okay, are you ready to go?”

She nods and gets up and the two of us walk out to my car.

“My place or yours?”

“Hmm, can we go back to yours for a bit? I have a lot of homework and I need somewhere quite to concentrate.”

“Yeah, sure that’s fine.”

“Sorry, Gabe is having a play date with Mrs. Golding’s daughter, Bella and they tend to get very loud around each other”

I laugh a bit and place a hand on her thigh. “Jess, its fine. I would love to have some company.”

She smiles slightly and nods. We get to my apartment and we walk upstairs. “Just make yourself at home, not like you don’t know that.” I say chuckling a bit. She smiles and nods and walks over to the living room and sits down on the floor, with her back against the couch.

I smile and walk into the kitchen.

“Chinese, Subway, or Pizza?” I call out to her.

“Hmm Subway is fine with me!”

“Italian BMT?”

“With…”

“With lettuce and mayo. I know” I say chuckling a bit. I hear her get up and she walks over to me.

“I’m sorry for being an asshole today.” She whispers and wraps her arms around my waist

I look down at her and smile and shake my head “I like ‘em feisty”
