Chapter 25 Basketball. Parents. And Little Boys
Jack P.O.V
“Bye guys, thanks for coming.”
“Bye son, thanks for dinner” My dad says and I hug both my parents and they leave. I walk over to Jess, who is now sleeping on the couch.
I smile and kiss her forehead. “Let’s get to bed” I whisper and I pick her up, carrying her to my room.
“Did your parents leave?” I hear her mumble. I chuckle a bit and nod
“Yeah, they just left. But you fell asleep”
“I’m sorry”
“It’s fine. They said goodnight”
She nods, and yawns a bit
“Do you want to borrow some clothes?”
“You know me too well”
I chuckle a bit and I sit her down on my bed and walk over to my closet.
“Here” I say and I toss her a pair of flannel PJ pants and a gray sweatshirt.
“Thanks”
I change and get in bed and a few seconds later Jess crawls onto the bed.
“Night” She mutters, yawning a little. I smile and kiss her forehead
“Good Night”
-------- 9:00 AM Sunday --------
I yawn a bit, stretching my arms. I roll onto my side, expecting to see Jess sound asleep next to me. But instead the bed is empty. I reach for my glasses and I get up, grabbing a shirt and I walk into the living room. I see Jess standing in the kitchen. Her back is facing me and it looks like she is cooking something. I smile and walk over, wrapping my arms around her from behind.
“Morning” I whisper and she jumps a little.
“Morning”
“What are you making?”
“Hmm, chocolate chip and banana nut pancakes?”
“That’s my fav……”
“Favorite, I know” She says smiling as she flips the pancakes.
“How did you know?”
“Oh I have my ways, Mr. Morris”
“Well thank-you” I say and I kiss her shoulder
We sit down and eat breakfast. Breakfast by the way, was amazing!
“So what do you want to do today?”
“Uh I don’t know. I was planning on going for a run and going to the park to work on my 3-point shot. Do you want to come?” She asks me and I smile
“Hmm, the run sounds like fun but I’m not much of a basketball player.”
“That’s alright, I just need you to rebound”
I nod. “Sounds like a great day”
She smiles and we finish eating.
“You just happened to have sneakers in your car?”
“Uh yeah, I always keep them and a pair of shorts in my car.” Jess says and I laugh
“Only you.”
“Yup, probably”
We get changed and we run down to the park a mile down the road.
“Come on slow poke!”
