Chapter 35

Jess POV Monday Morning 6:30AM

I wake up and jump in the shower. I quickly dry and straighten my long, brown hair and apply minimal amount of makeup along with a pair of rose colored capris with a white vneck and a long gold necklace. I walk downstairs and over to my mom.

“Morning” I mutter and I reach for the coffee pot.

“No. You need to quit drinking this stuff”

“Mom, come on! I need it” I plead

“It stunts your growth, young lady.”

“Mom, I’m 5’6”, I’m not getting any taller or shorter. Trust me”

“Drink tea, instead. It’s healthier for you.”

I roll my eyes “Fine, whatever. Am I taking Gabe to daycare?”

“No, I enrolled him in pre-school the other day.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, Friday was his first day.”

“Oh uh okay, sounds good” I say and I grab a granola bar and I walk back upstairs to grab my stuff. I run downstairs, expecting Jack to be here any minute. I hear laughter in the kitchen

“Ma, who are you talking to?” I ask as I turn the corner

My eyes meet his, and I smile slightly. I walk over to him and I reach past him, to his coffee cup.

“Sorry, mom cut me off” I say and I take a sip.  Jack chuckles a bit and nods

“Is this true, Chelsea?” Jack asks. I look at him.

“Chelsea?” I ask “You call my mom by her first name?”

“Yes, Jessica. We are adults and adults call each other by their names.” My mom says. I roll my eyes and look at Jack and he just shrugs his shoulders.

“Are you going to finish this?” I ask him as I take another sip.

“I was going to, but you can have the rest” He says trying to hold back a smile.

“Thanks” I say and I sit down on his lap.

“You’re being very rude this morning, young lady” My mom says.

Jack wraps his arms around my waist and chuckles a bit “She is a very rude young lady, lately”

“Hey, whose side are you on?” I ask him and he smiles sheepishly

“You two better get going, you’re going to be late” My mom says as she gets up and puts the mugs in the sink.

I get up and I run upstairs to grab my bags. I come back downstairs, kiss my mom on the cheek and walk outside to Jack’s car.

“Let’s go! We are going to be late!” Jack yells

I roll my eyes “What’s got your panties in a bunch?” I ask as I open the car door.

“Very funny. Now get it”

I get in and shut the door. We pull up to the school and I reach for the door handle.

“Excuse me.” Jack says as I locks the doors.

“Yes?” I ask as I turn towards him

“I never got my good morning kiss”

“Well maybe you would have if you weren’t so grumpy” I say and I unlock the doors

“Oh come on, you can’t be serious” Jack says and I step out of the car.
