RECAP: I sit down next to him, pulling most of the blanket over me, my head resting on his shoulder. Minutes later we hear my parents pull into the driveway….

Chapter 4. Headaches. Heartbreaks. Clean Clothes.
I get up and throw the warm blanket behind the couch, turn the lights on and sit back down on the couch next to Jack. My parents walk through the door, laughing.
“Hey guys! How was dinner?” I ask
“Well your father was late and he showed up in his uniform.” My mom says and I laugh
“Good job Dad!”
“Yeah well we got a very generous discount, since I am in the military.” My dad says and I turn to look at the look on Jack's face. I try not to laugh and I take his hand in mine.
“Hey, just relax” I whisper and I get up pulling Jack with me.
“Jack, this is my dad. Dad this is Jack” I say and they shake hands.
“So Jack is it? What are your intensions with my daughter?”
“Excuse me sir?” He asks
“Well clearly you are much older than her, so WHAT are your intensions?!” He asks
“Sir, I am 24 years old and I have fallen for your lovely daughter.” Jack says and he holds my hand
tighter and I smile.
“Bullshit!” My dad yells, scaring me and my mom.
“It’s true!” Jack yells
“Leave!” My dad yells and I step in between the two of them. “If he goes I go.” I threaten , crossing my arms.
“Jess stop.” Jack says, hurt in his voice. I look up at him. “You be quiet, I can handle this.”
“So now you have my daughter fighting your battles for you? Coward.” My father snaps.
“No Sir. I am more than capable of fighting battles that are worth fighting for, SIR.” Jack says and my dad looks at him.
“You need to get the hell off my property, before you leave in a body bag!” He yells
“Dad stop!” I yell
“No Jess, not now, please say good bye to your friend” He says and he runs his hand through his hair.
“He didn’t do anything! I invited him in for coffee and dinner! I invited him to stay and watch a movie!” I yell standing with my back against Jack, his hands softly on my hips.
“Just say good-bye, Jess” He says and I roll my eyes and I take Jack’s hand and lead him outside, slamming the door shut.
“I am so sorry about that.” I say, tears running down my cheeks.
He laughs a little and my eyes shoot up to his. “Hey, hey now.” He says wiping cupping my cheeks with his hands, wiping my tears with his thumbs.
“It’s not your fault. Your dad is right, I am much older than you. But that’s not going to stop me.” Jack says and I smile and hug him tight.
“Oh I almost forgot, I think I’m falling for you too.” I admit and he picks me up and swings me around. “Just don’t worry too much about my dad, he’s always like this.” I say. “But you know what would really impress him? Come with me to my brother’s wedding on Saturday.” I say smiling.
