Chapter 22
Jess P.O.V.
Thursday Morning
I get up, shower and change into a pair of ripped skinny jeans, brown lace up boots and a white and teal striped off the shoulder sweater. I straighten my hair and wait for Jack’s text.
“Hey mom” I say as I walk downstairs “Can Jack come over for dinner on Friday?”
“Sure honey. That sounds great!”
I smile and nod, I grab a granola bar and walk into the living room. “Hey buddy.”
“Hi Jessie!” I sit down on the floor with him and we play with his Toy Story toys.
I get a text from Jack.
‘Hey, leaving now. I’ll be there in like ten minutes. Xoxo’
I smile and I get up, grab my bag and books and walk outside just as Jack pulls up. I smile and walk over throwing my bag in the back.
“Hey”
“Hey” Jack says smiling slightly. He kisses me quickly and we start driving to school.
“So, are you sure you want to do this?”
“Yes. This is the easiest way”
I nod and we pull up to the school.
“For what it’s worth. I love you” I say looking up at him.
“I love you too. This is for both of us, you know that right?”
I smile and nod. We both get out of his car and walk inside. I walk to my locker and he walks to the office.
Jack P.O.V.
This is it. This is the day I quit my dream job. For what? For the love of my life. I keep my head held high and I walk into Tim Walkmen’s office.
“Jack, hey what can I help you with?”
“Hey Tim. I just wanted to give you my recognition letter.” I say and I place the letter on his desk.
“May I ask why?”
“I have my reasons”
“Is this because of Ms. Hogan?”
“Excuse me, sir?”
“Jack, why don’t you take a seat?” Tim asks “I have had a few tips of you and Ms. Hogan’s alleged relationship. I have let it slide, knowing how great of a student she is and how much of an impact you’ve made on these kids this year.”
“Please, just don’t punish Jess. She did nothing wrong. It was all me.”
Tim laughs a little and I look up at him confused.
“Jack, I’m not going to fire you. And I’m sure as hell not going to let you quit. You’re one of my best teachers here.”
“But I broke the rules, I don’t understand?”
“Maybe this will help.” Tim says and he hands me a picture of him and his wife.
“I don’t understand, sir”
