Chapter 17 Sleep. Concussions. And A Whole Lot Of Love
Jess P.O.V.
I smile “It’s fine. I shouldn’t have stepped in the middle of it.” I say quietly
“Oh honey, it’s not your fault.”
“I’m kind of tired. Can I go to bed?”
“Oh no honey. I’m sorry but we need you to stay awake for a bit. Mr. Morris is going to check you out okay?”
I nod, getting more tired by the second.
“Hey Jess.”
“Hi. Mr. Morris”
“You can call me Tim. Can you squeeze my hand for me?” I nod and I squeeze his hand a bit. And he nods. “Okay good. I’m going to check to see if your pupils are dilated okay?” I nod and he shines a bright light into my eyes and I wince a bit and shut them. “Alright Jess. We are going to take a little trip down to the hospital, but I need you to stay awake for me. Can you do that?”
I nod my head and I can feel Jack’s hand wrap around me, lifting me up bridal style and out to his car, but he never puts me down. The car starts moving, but I am still in Jack’s arms.
“Jack. I’m tired”
“Babe, I need you to stay awake. We are almost there.”
“Bedtime” I mutter and I close my eyes.

I wake up and open my eyes, instantly hit with bright white lights and walls, and the annoying sound of a heart monitor? I move around a bit and try to sit up.
“Where am I?”
“The hospital, dear.” I look over and I see a middle aged man in a white lab coat, but why does he look so familiar?
“What? Why?”
“You don’t remember? You got hit in the head last night and blacked out”
I nod “Oh uh, okay?”
He nods and walks over to the side of my bed and he crouches down. “Jess? Do you remember what happened last night?” I look over at him
“No, not really.”
“You don’t remember Tom hitting you?”
“Uhm sort of, it’s all a little fuzzy”
“Tom is really sorry about that. He just wanted me to tell you. When we all drove you over here last night, they wanted to stay. But I sent them all home.”
“Thank-You Mr. Morris” I say smiling
“It’s Tim. And you’re welcome, dear. Now just rest and I’ll be back in a while to do some tests.” I nod and close my eyes. A few minutes later I hear the door open and close, and footsteps leading up to my bed.
“Jess I am so sorry this happened. It was a stupid fight and it shouldn’t have ended with you being hurt.” Jack says as he grabs my hand. I smile
“It’s not your fault” I say and I open my eyes, looking over at him.
“Yes it is Jess. It is all my fault!”
“Jack stop. Okay? I swear, it is okay.”
He nods and kisses my forehead. “Good. But when you get out I am taking you somewhere special.”
“Can you make sure there are no bright lights? They hurt my head”
Jack laughs a bit and he nods “Anything for you.”
