Chapter 34 What Do I Do?
Sunday Morning
Jack POV
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
I’m lying on my stomach. I look over and my alarm clock reads 9:00 AM, I reach over and grab my phone.
“Uh Hello?”
“Jack?”
“Yeah?”
“Hi! It’s Sarah. Uh I have a question to ask you.”
“Is everything alright? How’s the baby?” I ask a little worried.
“That’s why I’m calling.”
“Sarah, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong. I just wanted to know if you could watch Christopher for the day?”
“As in today?”
“Yeah, sorry for such the short notice. Rich’s parents were supposed to watch him, but they are out of town, and we have a wedding today up in Waltstown.”
“Uh well I kind of had plans with Jess, but I’m sure she wont mind.”
“Thank-You so much, little brother!” Sarah yells over the phone. I can hear the baby begin to cry. “Shit, my bad babe”
“yeah, yeah” I hear Rich say. I chuckle a bit.
“So what time are you guys going to drop by?”
“Uh in like an hour?”
“Alright, sounds good to me. See you in an hour” I say and hang up the phone. I get up, shower and walk into the living room in my apartment.
Who am I kidding? This apartment is not a place for a baby to be. I have plates piled up in the sink, pizza boxes and such on the coffee table and sharp objects everywhere!
I run around the apartment, cleaning everything. I throw the dishes into the dishwasher and the takeout boxes in the trash. I even go as far as dusting, window washing and vacuuming. Wow! Who would have thought?
I run into my bedroom and throw on a pair of grey sweatpants and a white V-neck t-shirt, just as the doorbell rings.
“Come on up, doors unlocked” I say as I let them into the building.
A few minutes later I hear the front door open but it is not who I was expecting.
“Jess?” I ask as she is standing there wearing black yoga pants and a light pink V-neck. “What are you doing here?” I ask as she stands in the doorway, in a daze.
“Jess? Are you okay?!” I ask

Jess POV
Sunday Morning
Knock! Knock! Knock!
“Go away” I mutter into my pillow
“Jessica, open the door” My mom says in her parenting voice.
I moan and groan and get up, opening my bedroom door
“Yes?” I ask
“It’s your father” She says and my heart literally sinks.
“What about him?”
“Don’t panic. He’s in a hospital in Germany.”
“When did he even leave the country?! He told me he was going on a business trip for two weeks; not being deployed!”
