Chapter 26 School. School. School.
Jess P.O.V.
-----7:00 AM Monday ------
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! I reach around for my phone, my face buried in my pillow. I finally find it and I open it.
‘Hey babe. It’s 7:00 AM and I’m leaving my place in like 10 minutes. Do I have to drag you out of bed or will you be ready?’
‘I don’t wanna go to school!’
‘Don’t be a baby! Get your ass up.”
‘Now that’s not very gentlemanly of you’
‘Yeah whatever. Just get your lazy butt up!’
‘I’m up, I’m up. But I’m not dressing to impress today’
‘You look beautiful in anything’
‘How sweet. You’re cheesy’
‘Leaving now.’
‘No! I’m not ready!’
‘Hurry up! I already left. Love you.’
‘………………….’
I get out of bed and run into the bathroom. Thank God I showered last night. I quickly straighten my hair and I put on a pair of dark washed jeans, Jack’s gray Harvard sweatshirt and a pair of blue and silver Sperry’s. I grab my purse and books and walk downstairs. I turn the corner and I hear laughter.
“Good morning, slow poke.” Jack says as he is sitting at the kitchen counter
“What are you doing here?” I ask, now standing in the doorway
“Jess! That is no way to talk to Jack.” My mom says. I roll my eyes and walk over to him, kissing him quickly as he wraps his arms around my waist.
“It’s alright, Mrs. Morris. Jess isn’t a morning person” Jack says, chuckling a bit. “And to answer your rude question, I am here to take you to school. But I came inside because I didn’t want to wait out in the cold.”
I nod and I walk over to the refrigerator and I grab a bottle of water, an apple and a granola bar.
“Jess, did you pack a lunch?”
“Uh, no it’s fine. I’ll just buy something at school.”
“Do you have money?”
“Uh no…it’s fine mom. I’ll just skip lunch. But we have to go, we are going to be late. Bye love you” I say and I hug my mom and get in Jack’s car.
“You’re cranky in the morning” Jack says smiling.
I roll my eyes and rest my head against the window.
“Here these might help” He says and he hands me two Advil.
‘How did you know?” I ask as I take out my water and down the pills.
“I have my ways” He says and I smile
“No seriously….”
“Your mom gave them to me. She also said you weren’t taking your medicine. It is one thing if your head doesn’t hurt anymore but I can tell that it does. Am I right?” He asks and I nod
“Is it really that obvious?”
“Jess, you can’t hide anything from me.”
I smile and we get to the school. Jack and I walk in and into his classroom. I sit down, putting my head down on his desk.
