"Hanuman Chalisa!" Paresh said as he leaned forward to see the tiny printed version of the hymn.

"I had dropped it in the courtroom yesterday and luckily Suvarna had found it and seeing my name on it she kept it with her to give it to me." Rahul explained,

"Be more responsible with your things in future" Shishir mumbled as he strode towards the building with Paresh. I smiled at Rahul and followed them.

"Suvi-" Shishir started to say as the elevator doors closed but I cut him short as I started singing loudly.

"I am a pesky girl, in a pesky world-" in the tune of I am a Barbie girl.

I wiped my hand nervously on the apron as I finished clearing the table after lunch. Shishir stood beside me silently, wiping the washed dishes dry.

"I think we should go in now." I gulped nervously. "They had mentioned we should be there within twenty minutes-" I trailed off pointing at the door to their room.

Shishir nodded quietly and put aside the towel and I removed my apron.

I entered the room tentatively with Shishir. Our grandfathers had called us. I went and sat on one side of the couch facing them.

Shishir came in after me and stood silently. Nanu gave us a grim look and motioned him to sit down.

"That day you meant Suvarna right?" Dadaji asked point blank looking at Shishir. I felt my heart race. They are bringing it up!

"I did." I heard Shishir respond immediately. Both our grandfathers exchanged look. "We think we should help you two in cementing what you have." Nanu said and I and Shishir exchanged happy looks at this sudden development.

Dadaji pushed two sleek velvet boxes towards us "Put these on each other."

With my hands trembling I opened one box and Shishir did the same.

I gasped at the content at the same time as him.

"Friendship bands!"

"You both meant friendship, right?" Nanu asked his eyes twinkling. They are teasing us!

"Unless, you son of a goat can man up and have something to tell us?" Dadaji asked looking at Shishir his voice sounding amused.

I almost slapped my head with my hand. I should have known. They want us to confess in front of them!

I had no idea two old men could be such big pranksters.

I saw Shishir stand up slowly and look at me with a smile.

The moment is here!

He held out his hand to me while still smiling softly and I placed my hand in his large one as he pulled me up to stand beside him.

My heart thundered loudly as I saw our grandfathers look at us intently.

"I want to seek your blessing to allow me to be Suvi's other half in life." Shishir said his voice soft but clear.

My breath hitched in my chest at his words. How is he managing to sound so calm and sure right now?

"So you want to make her your other half in life-" Nanu started to say but Shishir interrupted him.

"No!" I looked at him in surprise and saw our grandfathers raise their eyebrows.

What does he mean 'no!'?

"I want to become her other half." Shishir continued. "She-" he paused as he looked at me and smiled "- has nothing half in my life. She completes me. She is the reason for everything good in my life."
