BOOK: The Three

AUTHOR: Sarah Lotz

GENRE: Thriller

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Black Thursday. The day that will never be forgotten. The day that four passenger planes crashed, almost exactly at the same moment, at four different points across the globe. There are only four survivors; three are children, who were removed unhurt but not unchanged. The fourth is Pamela Donald who lived long enough to record a voice message on her phone. That message is a warning.

REVIEW:I finished this book ten minutes ago and I am still slightly shaking. This is my favourite book of the year so far, if not one of my favourite books of all time. I cannot express how clever I found this book; it's written in all sorts of formats from emails to interviews which I adored. Seeing the story unfold from so many different points of view was one of the most interesting reading experiences I've ever had.

This book makes this fictional event sound so real. I had to google to check that this wasn't a real event and that I hadn't picked up a non-fiction book by accident. Its one of those matrix-feeling books, where its a book that has a book inside it that has been written by a fictional journalist. I can't really explain it too well.

I was so invested in this book, and I was reading this whenever I could. It has these beautifully developed and interesting characters, and it doesn't even matter that there are so many of them because I was so invested in the book that I learnt about all of them and remembered them with no problem. This book was creepy in some parts, but in the best way possible. There was one part where my stomach flipped and my hairs stood on end.

There are so many great parts about this book. Not only was it such an enjoyable read, but I have massive respect for how much planning the author had to put into this book. It is so realistic, and believable which is weird to say seeing as (without giving too much away) it gets quite supernatural. I have never read a book like this. And I don't know if I ever will. I saw quite a few negative reviews for this book on Goodreads, but that's from people not liking the format of the book. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but for me this book would not have been so terrifyingly brilliant without the interviews, emails and voice recordings inside it.

FINAL VERDICT: A totally stunning read, one that captivated my mind and made me really think. I had to remind myself that it was all fiction sometimes, it was so good.
