He stands up, now looking down at me. “Jess….I….Uh..”

“Stop, Jack. I’m tired of fighting all the time, it’s exhausting. You know I love you, that will never change, but I think it’s time to just take the high road and end this while we can.”

“Are you breaking up with me?”

I look up at Jack, a tear running down my cheeks as I nod my head “Yeah”

“Jess, I can change. I’ll find a way to end it with Lisa. I love you too much to let this end.” Jack says and I look up at him as I fight the tears.

“Tell you what. You have two weeks. And if you somehow get Lisa to forget the agreement, I’ll take you back. But if not, then I’m sorry Jack.”

“So I have until graduation?”

“Yeah”

“Okay, fair enough. Until then?”

“Until then” I say and for the second time this year, I hand him the ring and I turn to leave. Jack grabs my arm, spinning me around so my chest hits his.

“No matter what, I’ll always love you” He whispers and captures my lips in his. I pull away, a little light headed and I walk outside to my car.

1 Day Until Graduation

“We’re almost done, Liv” I say as we just finished our English final.

“I know, it’s so weird!” She says a little too loud

“Quiet down please, ladies” Jack says and I look up at him, but he’s looking down at the papers on his desk.

“Have you guys talked?” Liv asks and I shake my head

“Not since lunch two weeks ago.”

“So you don’t even know how the whole arrangement is going?”

“I don’t think I want to know.”

She nods and the bell rings

“Please hand in your exams, and I will see you all tomorrow for graduation” Jack says in a monotone voice.

“Are you alright, Mr. Morris?” Rachel asks as Liv and I are waiting to hand in our exams.

“I’m fine, thank-you” He says

“You don’t sound fine, Sir.”  She says

“Uh, excuse me. We are trying to hand in our tests, so if you two don’t mind putting this pathetic conversation on hold. That would be delightful” I say and I hear Liv trying to suppress her laugh behind me.

I throw my test down on Jack’s desk without giving him so much as a glance and turn to walk out of the room.

“I’ll see you tomorrow ladies” Jack says and I just keep walking.

“You were totally bad ass in there!” Liv says and I look at her and smile slightly.

“You think?”

“Deff! And if that didn’t open his eyes to what this whole predicament has done to you, than I don’t know what will.”

“Thanks, Liv” I say smiling as we walk outside to the parking lot.

“See you tomorrow?”

“Can’t wait” I say and I drive home.

I get home and walk inside.
