"Hi Shalini."

"Hello Ishita, how are you? It's been days since we met."

"Yes, I told you about my mother ailing health." Ishita replied, playing with her knuckles.

"How is she now? You met her?"

"Yes, but I was clueless what to talk with her. I am trying but it's not going to be easy for me though." Ishita replied further, resting her back against chair.

"Dont pressurise yourself Ishita."

"But I am really hurt Shalini, none of them cared to inform me about her health. It was just a coincidence that I reached there and came to know about her health otherwise they wouldn't care to inform me about the same. Why they always makes me feel incompetent and worthless?"

"Ishita we have talked about self doubt before too, you always been an amazing daughter for them. Just because they didn't inform you, it doesn't lessen your worth. Hmm." Ishita nodded her head, Raman had told her same when they talked about this topic once.  "Okay so are you ready to talk about your past? Are you comfortable?"

"Yes yes."

"So...how was your life at your maternal grandparents place? Was it better?"

"Till few extent, we were treated as humans there. We don't have to sleep on the floor anymore, they were giving us proper food to eat but still we were slaves to our aunts and a piece of mockery and pity for our relatives."

YEAR 1995
MADURAI

"What about Ishita doctor? Her fever still not coming down."

"I have changed the medications, let's wait. If it continued than we need to admit her." The male doctor replied and left the room, Madhavi caressed her doctor forehead and wiped off her tears sensing her elder daughter presence.

"Don't worry Amma, she will be fine." Her fourteen years old daughter, Vandita pressed her shoulder gently. She was equally worried about her sister health but she knew she need to stay strong to support her mother.

"I hope so, her fever is not lowering down Vandu." Madhavi cried, unable to control herself.

"Amma she will be fine, you know Paati is praying to murugan for Ishu wellbeing and look at yourself, you have an injured feet. You have to take care of yourself too." Vandita was still unaware of the reason behind her mother injured feet and her sister distorted health. They have returned three days back and the moment they entered, Ishita fainted in her grandmother arms.  She was burning in high fever and barely gained conscious.

"Yes Madhu, our Vandu is right. Come on eat little." Madhavi father came in the room and caressed her head. He lovingly fed her porridge prepared by her aunt. "Vandu Kanna go and see your paati. I am here with your mother." The girl nodded her head and went the room leaving her mother and grandfather alone. The moment they were left alone, Madhavi threw herself in her father arms and started to wail loudly.

"Appa my marriage has doomed. I failed to save my marriage."

"I have told you not to marry there kanna, see what he had done with you." Her father eyes turned foggy, Madhavi is there only daughter and he raised her like a princess.
