As they approached the Octopod, Barnacles could see the medical bay ready and waiting. The team was prepared for their arrival, and Barnacles felt a surge of relief. He knew they had to act fast to save Peso.

Barnacles looked around at the them, who didn't know much of what to do, Peso was their only medic.... Shellington was a scientist, tweak was an Engineer, Kwazii was the lieutenant and Cryptozoologist, kwazii was also a Pirate, Dashi was Photographer, IT officer and Pilot, Inkling was the Team's founder and Professor/Oceanographer...

The Octonauts gathered in the medical bay, their faces etched with worry. Peso lay unconscious on the table, his breathing shallow. Barnacles looked around at his team, who were frantically searching through medical books and manuals.

"Shellington, any luck?" Barnacles asked, his voice tense.

Shellington shook his head. "I'm trying, Captain, but this isn't my area of expertise."

Tweak was flipping through pages at lightning speed. "I'm an engineer, not a medic! But I'll do my best."

Kwazii, usually so confident, looked lost. "We need Peso... He's the only one who knows what to do."

Dashi was scanning through digital files, her fingers trembling. "I'm finding some information, but it's not enough."

Professor Inkling hovered nearby, his usually calm demeanor replaced with anxiety. "We must keep trying. Peso's life depends on it."

Despite their best efforts, Peso's condition worsened. His breathing became more labored, and his pulse weakened. The room fell silent as they realized they were losing him.

"No, Peso, stay with us!" Barnacles pleaded, but it was too late. Peso's eyes closed, and his body went still.

A heavy silence filled the room. Dashi and Kwazii turned to Barnacles, their eyes filled with blame and anger. Barnacles felt their stares piercing through him. He looked away, guilt and sorrow weighing heavily on his heart.

Barnacles retreated to his quarters, the weight of the blame and sorrow pressing heavily on his shoulders. He locked the door behind him, seeking solitude. The usually strong and steadfast captain felt his resolve crumbling.

A soft knock interrupted his thoughts. "Captain, it's Shellington. May I come in?"

Barnacles hesitated, then unlocked the door. Shellington entered, his expression gentle. "I just wanted to check on you. I know this is hard for all of us, but especially for you."

Barnacles nodded, his voice barely a whisper. "Thank you, Shellington. I appreciate it."

Later, Tweak stopped by, her usual cheerfulness subdued. "Cap, I just wanted to see how you're holdin' up. We're all hurtin', but I know you're carryin' a lot."

Barnacles managed a small smile. "Thanks, Tweak. It means a lot."

Two days passed, and Peso's absence was deeply felt. Kwazii and Dashi continued to cast blameful glances at Barnacles, their grief manifesting as anger. Barnacles tried to stay strong, but their harshness cut deep.

When he was alone, Barnacles allowed himself to cry, the tears a release for the pain he kept hidden from the others. He felt isolated, the burden of leadership and loss almost too much to bear.

Tweak knocked on the door "Captain... we have a mission..." She said...

Barnacles took a deep breath and opened the door. Tweak stood there, concern in her eyes. "Captain, we have a mission," she said softly.

Barnacles nodded, trying to push aside his sadness. "Alright, let's get to it."

The team gathered in the launch bay, ready for the mission. Kwazii and Dashi still cast harsh, blameful glances at Barnacles, their anger simmering beneath the surface. Barnacles felt the weight of their resentment but focused on the task at hand.
