“You do?”

I nod “Yeah. But can we just take it slow? It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s just; well it’s just that rebuilding what we had might take some time.” I say quietly

“Wait. Does that mean you’re giving me another chance?”

“Isn’t that what you came here for?”

“I mean I had it in the back of my mind. But I really came here to see if you were okay and to apologize. I never really thought you would give me another chance.”

“Should I take it back?”

“No! No, you already say it. No take backs” Jack says and he flashes me that bright white smile of his. I can’t help but smile slightly myself.

“Well good. Now my mom and I were just about to settle down and watch a movie that she rented. Would you like to join us?”

“As long as your there, I don’t care what we do.”

I smile slightly and nod. Jack and I walk inside and I smile up at my mom.

“Jack honey, will you give me a hand in the kitchen?” My mom asks. I walk into the living room and I pop the DVD in. I sit down on the loveseat with a blanket wrapped around me. A few minutes later my mom and Jack walk in. My mom takes the larger couch and Jack sits down right next to me.

“DOTS?” He asks as he hands me the bowl full of my favorite candy. I smile as my heart melts a little.

“You remembered?”

“How could I not?”

“I don’t know” I say smiling as I take the bowl from him. I wrap my arms around my knees, with the blanket wrapped around my body. Jack puts his arm around my shoulders, pulling me to him. I smile slightly and rest my head on his shoulder and he rests his head on top of mine.

“I love you” he whispers and kisses the top of my head.

I smile as I doze off.

“Do you want me to bring her upstairs?” I hear Jack whispering to my mom.

“Yeah, but in a bit. We need to talk first.” She answers

“Okay”

“I just want to clear a few things up. You obviously love Jess, but ever since you two have been together she has changed.”

“How so?”

“Well, she’s been happier. Let me re-word that. When you two are happy, she is happy. However, when you two fight or what not, she is depressed and that worries me.”

“Is there anything I could do about that, mam?”

“Well for one, stop breaking my daughter’s heart. She’s 18 and has had more heart breaks than me.”

“I understand.”

“Jack, I like you. I don’t like the fact that you are her teacher or that you are 25 years old. But you are good for Jess. Believe it or not, you two are a match made in heaven; perfect for one another.”

“I completely agree, Mam.”

“Just tell me one thing.”

“Anything”

“Do you plan on marrying my daughter? Or is she just a little fling for now, until you find someone better?”

“There is nobody better than your daughter. She is the love of my life and I have every intention on marrying her once she graduates from college.”

“That’s all I needed to hear. Thank-You Jack.”

“You’re welcome.” Jack says.

“You are more than welcome to stay the night.”

“Thank-You, but I think I’ll have to graciously pass on that offer.”

I feel Jack lift me up bridal style and carry me upstairs.

“I really am sorry for everything, Jess” Jack whispers and he kisses my forehead

“I know” I whisper and I open my eyes.

“Did you hear everything your mom and I just said?”

“Yeah” I say smiling a little. “And I completely forgive you.”

Jack looks down at me and smiles “really?”

“Really” I say laughing a little.

“God I don’t deserve you.”

“Like my mom said, we are perfect for each other.” I say smiling
