Landscape
Haiku by Kristal Joy R. Panesa

Landscape was brooded,

But want to be Daffodil,

Bright when winter ends.

From the author:

The poem opens with a portrayal of a brooding landscape, symbolizing the perceived hardships and unhappy memories in life. However, a shift occurs as the speaker expresses a desire to emulate a daffodil. Daffodils, known for their resilience and annual flourishing, represent new beginnings and the tenacity to thrive despite challenges. Blooming only in spring, daffodils boast vibrant colors, contrasting with the winter mentioned in the last line—a metaphor for life's problems. The poem suggests that, like the daffodil facing the end of winter, individuals can overcome gloomy periods, choosing resilience and embracing happiness after challenges have passed.
